Dream Team: Flynt & Palfrey to Out DC Hypocrites! (Flynt to hold 5PM press conf)
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0707/4872.html

It's true! Flynt and the DC Madame are working together now! OMG, it doesn't get better than this!

Flynt's press conference tonight, as cited on CNN, is on the subject of Vitter but will hopefully promise more to come! I'll bet a lot of (mainly) GOP finger-wagging hypocrites are shaking in their boots today.

Hustler publisher Larry Flynt, already on a hunt for Washington sex scandals, has teamed up with a powerful new ally: "D.C. Madam" Deborah Jeane Palfrey.

It's an alignment born from coincidental interests: Flynt wants to expose Washington hypocrites, and Palfrey has a long list of people who probably qualify. Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) became their first victim when a Flynt investigator linked his name and honorable title to an old telephone number on Palfrey's client list.

Vitter's exposure on Tuesday should put any other conservative Republican with sexy skeletons on notice: Start practicing your mea culpa.

It's déjà vu for many on Capitol Hill who lived through Flynt's first, successful 1998 sex-scandal bounty hunt, conducted at the height of the sex-driven impeachment drive against President Bill Clinton. With a promise of millions but a payout of less, Flynt managed to expose the sexual promiscuity of former House Judiciary Chairman Henry Hyde of Illinois, former impeachment prosecutor Bob Barr and -- his biggest catch of all -- the almost-Speaker Bob Livingston, another Louisianan, who confessed to adultery and resigned from Congress when he was on the brink of succeeding Speaker Newt Gingrich. (Gingrich's affair was not exposed by Flynt; that came later.)

30. Speaking of slow police chases
I was at a concert when the singer said he'd just heard that OJ Simpson was being driven down an LA highway while holding a gun to his head. He'd been cracking jokes all night, so of course everybody just laughed. When I got home and turned on the TV to check the next day's weather, there was OJ Simpson was being driven down an LA highway while holding a gun to his head!

4. You can only wonder ...
... how many men are confessing to their wives right now, figuring that if they might be exposed publicly in the near future, it will go easier on them at home if their spouse hears it from them first rather than on the news.

The florists and jewelry stores in DC are probably in for a lot of business in the next little while ...

15. While in a way I agree, I hope that ALL hypocrite are exposed
I suspect the percentages will far be in the Republicans corner on this issue. Democrats usually have healthy sex lives while Republicans on the other hand are very repressed sexually. It is almost a given that they do not practice what they preach.

27. Also, many fewer Democrats use "family values" as a way to get elected.
If somebody wants to pay a prostitute for sex, I really don't care. It's a stupid thing to do, but it's between them and their partner and their conscience.

If the person paying the prostitutes for sex got elected on a right-wing, homophobic, abstinence-only platform - then I'm interested. If the person paying the prostitutes for sex is on record as having said that President Clinton should resign in disgrace because of a consensual relationship, then I'm interested.

12. Rawstory has it: (plus another Madame claims Vitter a client)
http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Vitter_snagged_by_2nd_madam_Flynt_0711.html

David Vitter, R-Louisiana, has allegedly used the services of a well known DC Madam in New Orleans, reports CNN. Jeanette Maier, known as the Canal Street madam of New Orleans. She says she knew Vitter to be one of the "nicest and most honorable men that I ever met."

Vitter has recently admitted using the services of the DC Madam, Deborah Jeane Palfrey. Larry Flynt of Hustler Magazine claims that Vitter exposed himself after Flynt's magazine asked him to explain why his phone number repeatedly appeared on the DC Madam's phone records.

Larry Flynt is scheduled to have a press conference at 5 PM ET today. Flynt promises to release more details of the Vitter scandal.

38. I'm praying that there are some Repub presidential hopefuls plus
some close associates to Bush on the list. That would be great. Vitter is a good catch but maximum effectiveness (i.e. knocking someone out of the presidential race for 08 or somebody like Rove) would be better for our political purposes.

Hmm. A RW Supreme Court justice would be good, too. The only ones young enough to play this game are all RWingers...

Maybe a couple of distinguished cabinet officers would be nice.

I don't care who, I just want to see the Republican Party stagger from the blows and hear the screams...

I do like it that one of the AIDs guys who was promoting abstinence was caught in the madam's net. Serves the bastid right. And Giuliani's staffer, that was a nice touch. Altho Giuliani doesn't have much more to lose in the sex department.

41. A small quibble...
...it wasn't Flynt who first exposed Henry Hyde, it was Salon magazine. The wronged husband had shopped his story around to (IIRC) 57 different news organizations, all of who declined to publish the story, before Salon decided to publish his account.

I remember because it was so outrageous to me that so many "news" organizations could not (or would not) see the news value of such a story, at the same time that Mr. Hyde was sitting in very public judgment of President Clinton. And there was no doubting the veracity of the story -- the man had the goods on Hyde.

Not sure what Flynt added if anything to that particular story.

On the other hand, I remain grateful to Flynt for exposing Livingston -- that was great! I despise Hustler, but Flynt was and is doing the people's work in exposing these lying scumbag hypocrites for what they are.
