Senate voting now on Cloture for Webb Amendment to Defense Appropriation
Edited on Wed Jul-11-07 10:48 AM by brooklynite
This amendment would require that troops spend equivalent time at home (rest/retraining) for time spent in Iraq

1. If this doesn't pass,
I say we all email those senators who vote against it and accuse them that they do not support the troops. We should also email the newspapers in their home towns.

Then fuck 'em.

59. I was optimistic--I thought, how could this fail? Who wants to be on
record AGAINST a fair rest for war-weary soldiers? Now we know.

15. I'm hearing lots of yes votes. It sounds like it will pass. What will happen to the
bill if the Senate passes it? Bush will have t veto a bill that wholly supports the troops. Would he actually do it. Then what will happen to the war if the soldiers there have to change the deployment times? Will the pentagon just make the deployments longer so they can keep them there indefinitely? Could this vote end the war?

It was strictly protecting the military and that's all! The only reason I can see why this would have been voted down is because a Dem (and former Pub I might add) proposed it!
