Breaking: Webb amendment protecting U.S. troops fails

Breaking: Webb amendment protecting U.S. troops fails.

Senate conservatives filibustered Sen. Jim Webb’s (D-VA) amendment that would require troops to rest for as much or more time as they are deployed. Today, it failed to get the 60 votes needed (56-41) to move forward.

1. republicon chickehawks HATE our troops and veterans
Edited on Wed Jul-11-07 11:24 AM by SpiralHawk
they prove it again, undoubtedly at the behest of the Deserter-in-Chief and Dickie 'Five Military Deferments' Cheney.

The republicons are ashamed of their chickenhawk status --- and take it out on the honest, honorable troops.

Phooey on the republicon chickenhawks

12. Why do I think that Salazar will be on that list...
I called his office yesterday after receiving his newest constituent email touting his grand plan to make the administration conform to the ISG report. I told his representative I expected him to support the Webb Amendment.

Here we thought we elected a Democrat. What a disappointment.

6. Why would anybody vote against an amendment like this?
and still have the cojones to face voters in 2008? I'm assuming the republics up for reelection voted for it.

And I'd bet a dollar against a dog turd Joe Loserman voted against it.

what he was talking about. Of course when he was on Hannity recently, he said that Wes Clark didn't understand the military ground game.

36. LOL! Chickenhawk Lieberman contradicting a Vietnam vet /former Secretary of the Navy
and a retired General--can't put his own ass on the line, but loves to criticize others who were willing to fight and saw military operations from the INSIDE. What...an...ass--he earns more of my contempt and hatred every single day he opens his yap.

9. Is there or will there be a list with those 41 names?
I don't think I have ever felt this much vehemence and raw hatred toward anything in my life--I truly "hate" republicans and everything they stand for. Except for a few family members, I no longer even associate with any republicans--their blind loyalty, hypocrisy, and prejudice are things I do not want in my life or in that of my children.

Sheesh, no surprise about Lieberman, he doesn't give a damn about our troops dying.

29. They don't care about the troops, only care about doing *'s bidding. Here's
the biggest traitor, who you'd think might have shown some compassion.

Sen. John McCain of Arizona, the senior Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, criticized Webb's proposal to reporters.

It "is an encroachment on the constitutional rights of the president of the United States and the presidential authority of the president . . . in that he alone is the commander in chief and would set deployments," McCain said."

28. And what is so maddening
the general public is never informed that the republicans blocked it. The just say the democrats FAILED to get a bill passed. The sneaky basta**s know very well the press won't out them. And all you could hear from them when they are the majority in the senate was that the democrats were obstructionists.

But you have to fault the democratic senators...they should all clamor to go on TV and tell the world what the republicans are doing. That they don't really support the troops all they support is a stubborn ass little piece of crap that smirks and grins and giggles because he is getting his way. He does not care one bit about the troops all he cares about is the money he, his friends and his family are raking in.
