The Pugs Are Going To Steal The Thunder

.....if the DEMS don't grab their balls and squeeze...The pug will get the benefit from this not the dems

By ANNE FLAHERTY, Associated Press Writer 4 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - Several Republican senators told President Bush's top national security aide privately Wednesday that they did not want Bush to wait until September to change course in Iraq.

The meeting that lawmakers had with national security adviser Stephen Hadley came as GOP Sens. Olympia Snowe and Chuck Hagel announced they would back Democratic legislation ordering combat to end next spring.

2. Nope, the dems have been way ahead of the curve
The republicans can't all of a sudden claim that they are the ones out in front on this. Todays Webb bill proves it.

6. Hagel can claim to be "out front" on this, which might be a factor if he decides

to run Indy or Unity '08 next year--hopefully, though, he'll just retire.

3. I really don't care who gets credit. The media will always twist the truth.
Most reasonable people have figured out by now that the war was a mistake and anyone still supporting it is a dumbass. I don't think that we can count on the rest.

4. If they pull out, or even partially withdraw, Bush and Rove are going
to try to throw it to the Republicans. Make it seem like the Republicans in Congress convinced them to do it; so as to undercut the Democrats in Congress. Since Pelosi and Reid don't have all that much power to affect the running of the war in Iraq, they can pick their moment and make it work for them.

On the other hand, I don't know if this is the way it will go; Bush is a deeply selfish person. I don't think he even cares all that much about his party. He might well just keep troops in to try to save his legacy as pull them out to save his party.

7. Dems need the Repubs to get on board. It is necessary they vote w the Dems
or we aren't gonna get out.

However what I am afraid is happening is that the Repubs will make a bunch of noise, and just keep on voting with BUSH.

8. The Dem haters from the left
will help them. Just watch. They'll love to think they're so clever by scoffing at Democrats needing Repulicans to make anything happen. I can hear it coming. *sigh*
