You Took An Oath To Uphold The Constitution, "Not To Uphold The President"
http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/07/11/prosecutors.taylor.ap/index.html

- snip -

Loyal to Bush even outside the White House, Taylor said she was trying not to answer questions that might violate the president's claim of executive privilege. At one point she told the committee that as a commissioned officer, "I took an oath and I take that oath to the president very seriously."

Seeing a chance to weaken Taylor's observance of Bush's executive privilege claim, Leahy corrected her: She took an oath to uphold the Constitution, he said.

"Your oath is not to uphold the president," Leahy lectured her.

1. I don't remember "President" being part of the oath
I remember "Constitution" and "United States". Maybe we all took a different oath back then. "I don't recall", it was a long time ago.:sarcasm:

2. President is part of the oath
"...and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice."

But we swore allegiance to the US Constitution, not to the President.

7. Federal Civil Servant Oath of Office
I, , do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

9. Maybe she...and other Loyal Bushies had to take a separate , additional oath...
...once they were hired? An oath to cover the Current Occupant's ass no matter what?

"SSSHHHHH! It's a secret oath!"

11. And there you have it.
The crux of it all. Bush appointees and employees are told that their job is to protect and serve the President and not the Constitution.

12. What if she *did* take such an oath?
Although I don't believe it necessarily involves a ritual sacrifice of an infant, mingling her blood with that of the Unholy Trinity of Bush, Cheney, and Rove, and the consequence that if she ever violates that oath she will burst into flames . . .

Perhaps the loyal Bushies really do take this oath. It fits their pattern of borrowing pretty much everything from Nazi Germany. This needs to be investigated a lot more closely.

13. Exactly what I was thinking: raises the question as to whether an oath of personal allegiance
has been given to their Fuhrer by each appointee in the administration.
