I thought about some sort of grand statement, you know, thanking the mods and all the lovely people here, but since we are all completely aware that we are all ego maniacs posting our various snarky remarks and compulsively checking "my DU" to see if anyone thought our idea or comments were sheer brilliance and reponded, I will forgo that.
Some people like me, some people loath me, some people hate me, some people are confused by me and some people haven't the slightest idea who the hell I am and don't give a rats ass about me achieving my 10,000th post.
But I will say this about DU, right, wrong or indifferent, we are a passionate bunch. We will swear, berate, cut down, support, argue to no end, get messages deleted, be banned, f this and f that, snarkify, blow smoke, research, substantiate, stick to our guns and sometimes, give no quarter, but we are the truest of all Americans, we exercise our right to free speech. And that alone needs to be commended.
I post my tinfoil hat theories, my little conversations with my fictional neighbor Phil from time to time, my insights on peak oil and climate change, with, for the most part, positive reception, but sometimes get into a flame war, but that's what makes DU worth while.
We all have that inner angst that needs to be vented and expressed, all in an effort to preserve our sanity through these trying times. DU has been that avenue for us to express just that.
So to the various people I have blocked, pissed off and just plain miffed, I apologize, I apologized for sometimes being a jerk, for sometimes being thick headed, for sometimes being self righteous, for sometimes just being a plain old dickhead. :) And needless to say, I will remove all blocks and if you wish to send me hate-flame mail be my guest. Some will be rightly deserved while others, well...never mind.
With all that said, I love DU. Not the kind of love a person gives to a child or a puppy, but the community safety net type of love. I've cried, I've laughed and I have grown fond of many of the voices on here.
So in final I say, screw you all, LOL but I love you a bunch, you are the best.
And yes, yeah yeah I know, I said I wouldn't say it, but what the hell, Thank you all, Thank you mods, thank you Skinner, Earl G and the rest for being who you are and giving us a site that continues to be a force of reason and wit in this otherwise reasonless and witless world.
