Vitter scandal heatin' up! HUSTLER CALLS PRESS CONFERENCE this afternoon!
BATON ROUGE - Hustler magazine has called a press conference for late this afternoon in California to talk about the scandal involving U.S. Sen. David Vitter of Louisiana.

Hustler magazine editor Larry Flynt claimed credit Tuesday afternoon for forcing Vitter to release a highly unusual acknowledgement that his phone number was among 15,000 posted online Monday by accused Washington prostitution ringleader Deborah Jeane Palfrey.

"Given Vitter's strong Christian message and family values campaigning, this has to constitute the most serious and weighty challenge to his continued effectiveness as a United States senator. I think there's a strong chance he's not going to survive this," Cross said.

Vitter "did the proper thing politically," said pollster Bernie Pinsonat of Baton Rouge. "The smartest thing is to confess and say you've repented and changed your life around. If this is all there is to it, since the election is three years from now, there's a pretty good chance he can overcome it."

"This could be the end of it, or it could be a nightmare - sort of Chinese water torture - as he waits for it to be over," Pinsonat said.

The Rev. Billy McCormack of University Baptist Church, leader of the Louisiana Christian Coalition, said Christians likely would forgive Vitter, a champion of family values.

"Senator Vitter has apologized for his indiscretion and his sins," McCormack said. "Senator Vitter may well be much more able as a senator now than before because people tend to learn from their mistakes when they are responsible. I will continue to support him fervently."

5. "Senator Vitter has apologized for his indiscretion" - my, my, that's easy Reverend.
Being a deep woods southern baptist sure sounds like a lot of fun. Anything goes, as long as you're sorry afterwards.

8. I know many deep woods Southern Baptists.
Trust me. Forgiveness doesn't flow this easily for them.

Vitter's demolished.

12. The only difference between Baptist and Southern Baptist is that a Southern Baptist
will acknowledge you and say hello when y'all bump into each other at the liquor store after church.

15. However...
that liquor store MUST be across at least the county line, and preferably the state line.

6. So you can wash away all your sins with a wave of the magic Jesus?
Edited on Wed Jul-11-07 04:11 PM by Alexander
Every time a right-winger gets caught doing something unholy, he invokes the name of Jesus.

Who knew just saying the name "Jesus" over and over would get people off the hook so easily?

20. Larry Flynt may be a smut peddler . . .
But he hates hypocrites as much as we do!

You have to give Larry Flynt credit. He's an up-front sort of person. Even if his magazine is basically porn for gynecologists, Flynt has always been a consistent whipmaster on hypocritical behavior, no matter who was doing it or on what side of the aisle they sit.

This Vitter is a scumbag, pure and simple, and he should be resigning in disgrace.

Who else is Flynt going to track down? There's A LOT of numbers on Ms. Palfrey's phone bills . . .
