Science proves that the Earth is not moving, and is the center of the universe
I heard about this earlier today on the Boortz show. Probably the only redeeming value about him is the way that he goes after the fundy crowd - which quite frankly, isn't very hard to do. Anyways, there's a site that claims 'scientific proof' that not only does the Earth not rotate, but that everything in the universe revolves around the Earth. What's really scary is that there is apparently a state legislator in Georgia who buys into this, and is attempting to get this message taught in public schools.

Anyways, it's almost comical, in a dark sort of way, that there are people out there who honestly believe this stuff. Just like that creation museum that tries to prove that humans coexisted with dinosaurs.

4. Those idiots! They have totally ignored one thing.
Of course the earth is the center of the universe. But I don't see one thing on their website that indicates they are paying attention to details.

The earth is flat. And I might add, paper thin! :)

6. Can I just scream?
What the fuck does this mean?
"The problem for evolution’s claims becomes even more unbridgeable when it is demonstrated that not only is every one of those claims readily falsified by qualified non-theoretical scientists, but the very premise behind all evolutionism is falsified by two iron Laws of True (i.e., factual/known) Science: 1) The Law of Biogenesis, i.e., life comes only from life. 2) The Law of Increasing Entropy (the Second Law of Thermodynamics) offers all of history as a record of its unfailing truthfulness. Nothing escapes this Law’s devolutionary effects!"

WHAT?

How long before Georgia attacks gravity?

8. Neil Boortz's brain cells stopped moving a long time ago
We are in deep, deep crap if we have to rely on Neil Boortz to protect the integrity of science. But then again, we are in deep crap anyway.

10. Well, duh! It's just a question of frame of reference...
Of course you can define everything from the perspective of a stationary Earth. It's just a whole lot of *really* ugly mathematical transformations. The thing is that if you *don't* assume a stationary earth, it's much easier, and the math is much more easily interpreted.

Don't forget that there were also those who refused to believe that God would use anything but perfect circular orbits. When these orbits couldn't be made to accurately describe planetary motions, they added "epi-cycles", smaller circles centered successively on the previous circle. I believe that the followers of this idea made it up to 79 before finally giving up.

Still, they could have made it work, just like I have no doubt that someone could describe all motions in the sky based on a stationary Earth. That doesn't make it right, though...

11. Not really.
If you defined earth as stationary, then the stars would have to be moving faster than the speed of light. And that can't happen.

12. One way to do that is simply to assume the earth is stationary
at the center of the universe and everything else just moves around in a completely random fashion.

See? No math, science or physics needed!
