Dear Asshole Republican Senators,
You probably don't know me, and odds are you don't give a rat's ass about what I have to say. Well, it feels like I'm about to go off the deep end on this one, so hold onto your corrupt asses. I am an average American citizen of voting age with an opinion on politics and how this country should be run. You know - the people you morons continue to ignore at every turn.

Today, 41 of you (including the holy Joe Lieberman) voted to continue debate and delay a real vote on Senator Jim Webb's bill, S. 2012, which proposed setting down guidelines that would have greatly limited National Guard and Army reserve deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. Also, the bill would have required that soldiers be given more time at home between deployments - time to match the extended stays the so-called President of this country decided to put in place earlier this year.

I have one simply question: What the FUCK is wrong with you? Are you all completely insane?! This bill was aimed at supporting the troops and restricting how many of our bravest men and women can be forced into the hellhole that Iraq has become. Not only that, but it would have also given them more time AWAY from battle between their deployments. You know, time they could spend at HOME, with their FAMILIES and their FRIENDS in a setting where a hostile guerrilla force WON'T be shooting at them and trying to blow them up. Every. Single. Day.

You know, the kind of safety you COWARDS enjoy ever single fucking day.

I say this to you, Senators Alexander, Allard, Barrasso, Bennett, Bond, Bunning, Burr, Chambliss, Coburn, Cochran, Corker, Cornyn, Craig, Crapo, DeMint, Dole, Domenici, Ensign, Enzi, Graham, Grassley, Gregg, Hatch, Hutchinson, Inhofe, Isakson, Kyl, Lieberman, Lott, Lugar, Martinez, McCain, McConnell, Murkowski, Roberts, Sessions, Shelby, Specter, Stevens, Thune, and Voinovich, and I say it emphatically: Fuck you. Fuck every last one of you. Fuck everything you stand for, because we sure as hell know what you DON'T stand for now - you don't stand for supporting the American troops, you don't stand for protecting the men and women in the armed services, and you certainly don't stand for peace, rationality, or human decency.

To those 56 Democrats and Republicans who DID vote to bring the bill to a vote, you stood up for the right thing and I support you in your continued efforts to do so. I can only hope your sadly misguided colleagues will either come to their senses, or be swept out of office when it comes time for each and every one of those 41 to face re-election.

And to those 41 Senators, I close with this. You have all done this country a great disservice. You have put petty politics and blind support for the current Administration and its continued lies ahead of the needs of our men and women in uniform. You have shown your true colors today. You are all cowards, hypocrites, liars, and complete and utter assholes.

One day, the people of this country will come to their senses and realize what you have done. And when that day comes, I will be waiting and watching with great joy as the sins you have committed come back to bite you in the ass.

Sincerely,

A very, VERY angry American voter

1. Two questions
1. How many of the naysayers have ever served in combat? (I bet the answer is 0)

2. How many of them will dare look a veteran or their families in the eyes now?

4. Two Answers
1. McCain served in combat, not sure about any of the others.

2. Not sure, but if they do they'll be spewing their BS as usual.

But he's a little... Shall we say... Detached from reality, much as he has been for the last five years or so.

9. THANKS
I just decided to sign up to join in the celebrations as these republican family values folks get "exposed". That and it is time I put my time online to a good use. When I can post I will make a few posts about a few charity websites and such and try to drive some help there way. If it is allowed in here.

Fresh Start is beginning it's 5th year as an INDEPENDENT private non-profit (which takes no government funding whatsoever). Spend a few minutes and check out what Fresh Start is doing, and the impact its made in the community. Thanks, and welcome to DU.

15. Put The Blame Where It Really Belongs
Instead of running against Pelosi or camping out in Conyer's office, maybe a certain person should look at either a Senate run against any of the above mentioned or camping out at McConnell's office.

Wanna know what stands in the way of ending this illegal invasion? You saw it on display today. Now, instead of blaming House Democrats who would have passed a similar measure out of the House, let's put the pressure on 5 Repugnicans who prevented Webb's ammendment from moving forward. How about it Normie, Arlen, George, Lugie and Lamar...put up or shut up. You're the obstructionists and the blood of any additional deaths from here on forward is more on your hands than anyone else as you're enabling this regime and preventing the DEBATE...not just the vote, but even discussing ending this madness. Shame on all of you.

A great post!

21. Exactly - Putting pressure on these criminals and
Camping out in McConnell's office and all the other publicans who have shut this bill down would be a good use of our time. A barage of emails and letters and faxes and phone calls seem to be in order.

McConnell's up for re-election in 08 - which DEM is running against him? Maybe we can start supporting DEM candidates sooner than later.

Good point.

24. If I thought it'd do any good, I'd write to Allard.
But I've already written to him three times in the past year and have got little more than BS in return. I can only hope the Colorado voters duplicate their decision in 2004 to elect a Democrat to the Senate to serve alongside Ken Salazar.

God, Allard pisses me off so much. He's voted opposite of how I've wanted him to vote just about ever single time, and I couldn't be happier he's retiring from the Senate in 2008.

29. Having Hastert
as my congress critter, I feel your pain. I sometimes wonder if he has ever cared at all if more than half his district disagrees with him. I hold up no hope that he will listen to me or consider any other path than the one he is on.

I send letters/emails to tell him of my distaste for his positions anyway. It keeps his staff busy sending me the proper form letter back.

26. Thanks Rosa...
DKos has been tracking the Kentucky race and McConnell is not looking so hot these days...especially on Iraq. Plus he's sharing the ticket with Fletcher...a real corrupt scumbag. He could provide us with a Macaca surprise next year.

I think it's descpicable that a Lugar takes the floor and moans about how bad things are going and when he can do the right and moral thing in not supporting the troops. Never have we put such a strain on our military...not WWII or Vietnam. Some of these troops have been on three tours into a hell-hole that will scar them and the rest of us for the rest of our lives. And this asshat votes to cut off the DEBATE.

Yes, this is where we need to make the noise. This is where the roadblocks in ending this madness begins.

about these hypocrites.

"Support the troops!" BS

How many of them are sending family members over to "liberate" Iraq?

Hypocritical, phony, lying, manipulative pieces of crap.

The enlistment age has been upped to 42, hasn't it? If you're so gung-ho, tell us how many of your extended family have signed on for this "noble cause".

You make me sick. All of you. Despicable phonies!:puke:

32. Aren't you missing something?
Have you forgotten all the patriotic, flag-waving, unbridled statements of support for our troops these Rethugs have made?

Have you missed how often they maintain their concern for our troops, often in front of soldiers and very colorful patriotic banners? Sure, they continue to refuse to look at any facts that would indicate our troops have any problems, or are being virtually enslaved and tortured by * and his cronies; but that would compromise their blind patriotism to the Republican Party of America.

And if you are bold enough to imply that the Thugs are not concerned about the effects on families, may I remind you the sympathy they have displayed for the family of poor Scooter Libby?

So you see, we do bite.:hi:

They DO show sympathy, as long as it's for one of the biggest cronies in their party! Poor Scooter and his family; they've suffered so much from his ordeal! Poor Scooter's family!

These people make my head spin. Their hypocrisies are just stunning. They'll bring in soldiers and American flags and patriotism at fund raising events or photo ops to show they support the troops, but when it comes time to PROVE they support the troops, they do this and show their TRUE colors.

Assholes.
