Can I call someone I disagree with a mentally insane creature...
and not get my thread locked? OK, Rove, oreally, Coulter, fine, but how about if they are someone many DUers agree with? Is that ok? Or should I use civil language and say why I disagree with them? If I can just post insults, that would free up my posting so much, I'd really appreciate knowing. Thank you.

2. Yes. Read the rules Cindy Sheehan is a public figure and not a DUer.
It doesn't matter that "many" DUers are in her fan club.

Edited to add, so unless someone is a DU member, it's ok?

5. sounds like the onset of a flamewar.....although i wouldn't be getting
into that one. (don't much care either way--except when it comes time to roasting marshmallows!)

23. I'm not defending the comments. But if the person is a political figure or potential candidate
it might do well to ask whether they are a member of the Democratic Party. If not, are they running against or considering a run against a member of the Democratic Party?

For example, Joe Lieberman. Backing Joe Lieberman against Lamont in last year's election would have been against DU rules. Because Lieberman was (and is) no longer a Democrat, and was openly challenging a Democrat.

30. Senator Edwards Is A Democrat, Ma'am
The rules require criticism of Democrats be of a constructive nature, and bar smears and broad-brush slurs against Democrats.

31. OK, Democrats and DU members.
Edited on Thu Jul-12-07 12:47 AM by uppityperson
It has been very bitter on parts of DU, nasty, mean, petty even. So goes life, so goes DU, I wouldn't call anyone that anyways, and using Edwards just as a random example.

32. Understood, Ma'am
But having happened upon the question, it seemed best to answer it.

4. Sure.
I call people who don't like Cindy Sheehan inbred, redneck mouthbreathers.

Funny thing is, they seems to get upset about it. Funny how they can dish it out, but not take it.

Not just pro/con, but decent and indecent, depending on how and what they post (personal attacks I do not like). Funny for being uppity, eh?

Fear? Anger? Jealousy? Not all disruptors, but noticing some traits like size for many. Odd. If people really don't care, why the high emotions?

9. It must be hard being a disruptor these days.
They can't pretend Iraq's going well... The people you voted for's getting subpoenas... The guy you offered a blow job to for twenty bucks while wearing a diaper turned out to be a cop...

That is a good question to ask also. There are many good questions to ask, aren't there.

And that my proud, proud DU'er is flamebait and thus against the very rules you hold so dear.

18. Seriously I was copying another post that used the same word, which is why I wondered if it was ok.
since the topic I copied it from has many replies and has gone on for a while. I used the word on purpose, asking if this was ok, since it seemed to be elsewhere.

16. Apparently so. RW groupthink is alive and well
It never ceases to amaze me that RWers refuse to ever do the right thing because they say they see it as a partisan attempt designed "to embarrass the president." Well, if you haven't done anything wrong, you have nothing to fear, or so they say.

It has become clear that asking anything awkward of the Dems or Dem leadership falls under the same fallacious umbrella. If it's designed to "embarrass" someone, it shouldn't be asked whether or not it serves the public good.

i've noticed more short tempers and mean-spiritedness on DU lately
I guess it's becoming harder for people to process the outrage we've been subjected to in the past 6 years.

Personally speaking, I'm just plain worn out. :-(
