Vitter: "I don't have any friends."
Edited on Thu Jul-12-07 12:58 AM by blitzen
from a few years back

http://righthandthief.blogspot.com/2004/09/in-pages-of-blue-boy-mailing.html

Last year a staunch republican aide who works on Capitol Hill told me there was "no way" Vitter would win a Senate seat because he just wasn't enough of a folksy backslapper. I was shocked at how pessimistic he was about the V-man's chances. Then the aide recalled the following candid exchange he had in D.C.:

Aide: "I bet you're looking forward to seeing your friends back in Louisiana."

Vitter (matter of factly): "No, I don't have any friends."

This same blog is all over the diaper fetish angle:

http://righthandthief.blogspot.com/2007/07/canal-steet-madam-says-vitter-was.html

We're talking about, among other things, Diaper Fetishism. That's right folks, according to a trusted inside source, Vitter was well known among other Canal Street Brothel patrons to like diapers as well as other bizarre "fetishes". I don't have much more info than that from my source, except that some of the other patrons at the brothel included a well known business-minded New Orleans Republican and a well known Democratic ex-governor. There are many other well known patrons who never held public office, too. You've probably heard various names floated about.

Don't blame me! I told you that more salacious information about Vitter was going to come out, and you can be sure that this isn't the last of it. The Senator should resign rather than prolong this beating. Years ago, Vitter knew the risks of his past indiscretions, and what they might do to his career and family (and state), yet he (and his wife) decided to press on and run for higher office and hope none of these things would ever surface.

5. That's a great quote -- I'll bet he's misunderstood too...
... If I were him I would've borrowed a Henry Fonda line from On Golden Pond: "I don't see why everybody's gotta talk about everything all the time."

6. Of course you don't! All you ever wanted was power..
and the concept of "friends" has no place in high powered politics. Now that your power's gone (and it is without a doubt) you're on your own Mr. Vitter. You're a disgraced hypocrite Mr. Vitter. Live with it.

Don't worry though. I'm sure you can get a job at the AEI or some other RW hack "think tank".

8. I don't understand.
Don't the pugs ever vet their candidates; or is it required that you be sexually flawed to get along with all the other idjits. This is beyond disgusting; though I admit to having sympathy for Vitter. It is sad that no one stopped him; perhaps his wife, who certainly knew all about this. I smell a suicide and I hate this, even if he is a pug.

16. The boys like people with flaws
it makes them susceptible to being co-opted or blackmailed. They want people they can control. The last thing they want is some 'Boy Scout' on a mission.

9. Vitter pissed off many in the LA state legislature - I'm not surprised at all.
Many Democrats and Republicans probably still hold a grudge against Vitter.

I'm convinced Vitter ran for Congress just to get out of the state legislature, where he is persona non grata.

20. Well, not that there's been any confirmation....
...or anything. You know, like going through trash cans for samples that can be matched to DNA. However, since the Repukes have never shown a predeliction toward the facts when discussing the sex lives of Dems (not to mention the impeachment thing), I'll use the standards as they have set them. So there's this:

"Tonight I got confirmation from a solid inside source who has no ideological ax to grind. The source said Vitter was a client at Canal Street, and provided some additional details that shed light on Maier's comment that there was "more to the business than sex". These details are not for the faint of heart, either.

My question is: "does he wear them while debating on the Senate floor? He'd be great in a filibuster....."

18. Drip...Drip...Drip...
I'm having fun watching this slow motion kabuki theater...and this asshat deserves it. His actions in the wake of Katrina are grounds to kick him out...favoring the "de-negroification" of New Orleans to turn it into a red state and approving all the contracts and contractors that turned this disaster into their own piggy bank. That's the real screweing to the Lousiana people he did.

The longer he stays silent, the louder this story gets. It's always the "cover-up" that gets you...and Vitter sure looks like he has no answer and no balls to face his own constituents. Sneaking away from this mess is the worst thing he could do...but also a great thing he's doing for us.

The pressure to resign is starting to rachet up...and getting out of control for Rove and the GOOP spinners to control. They know they're literally "naked" to the world here...again...especially on the heels of the Libby commutation...with fires burning all around them and few firemen to put the fires out. The attempt to try to equate Vitter with Bill Clinton...the only defense...failed miserably and the longer Vitter stays in the Senate, the less effective he and his Repugnican enablers will be.

Blanco should tell all those Repugnicans calling her to replace Vitter with a Repugnican to kiss her where the bayou don't shine!
