The Rehabilitation of Colin Powell

On the radio the other day, I heard Colin Powell delivering a speech that was sharply critical of the Bush administration. The speech was punctuated by thunderous applause from the crowd. I almost exploded in anger – both for Powell’s audacity to attempt to separate himself from the Bush war crimes, and for the amnesiac imbeciles in the audience who still believe in the myth of Saint Colin the Good and Wise.

Seriously, if Cheney and Bush are impeached, what republican are they going to choose in their Gerald Ford scenario?

It can't be one of the major republical candidates, because that would give him an unfair advantage in 08. They would never be able to agree and there would be an intra-republican blood bath.

It has to be someone with military and diplomatic exerpience.

Mark my words: If Cheney is impeached and removed, they're going to tap saint colin as VP. If and when Bush is then impeached and removed, saint colin becomes prez, and the Pentagon will have had its bloodless coup.

Hence the efforts at rehabilitation.
