"Senate opened with a Hindu prayer placing false god on a level with Jesus!" 3 arrests.
Edited on Thu Jul-12-07 11:09 AM by Bluebear
Theology has moved from the church house onto the floor of the United States Senate, and has been arrested.

Contact: Dr. Pat McEwen, Operation Save America, 321-431- 3962

WASHINGTON, July 12 /Christian Newswire/ -- Ante Pavkovic, Kathy Pavkovic, and Kristen Sugar were all arrested in the chambers of the United States Senate as that chamber was violated by a false Hindu god. The Senate was opened with a Hindu prayer placing the false god of Hinduism on a level playing field with the One True God, Jesus Christ. This would never have been allowed by our Founding Fathers.

"Not one Senator had the backbone to stand as our Founding Fathers stood. They stood on the Gospel of Jesus Christ! There were three in the audience with the courage to stand and proclaim, 'Thou shalt have no other gods before me.' They were immediately removed from the chambers, arrested, and are in jail now. God bless those who stand for Jesus as we know that He stands for them." Rev. Flip Benham, Director, Operation Save America/Operation Rescue

73. Here Are "The Forged Origins of the New Testament"
All fully researched and carefully documented by Biblical Scholars=fascinating! Creation of Jesus Christ allegory/ myth by Emperor Constantine in 4th century BC at Council of Naicea! Combined Eastern-'Krishna' (Hindu) and Western 'Hesus (Druidic) = Hesus Krishna togethe to have only 1 god in order to unite the Roman Empire (hundreds of gods and goddesses) and increase control/ allegiance etc.

Christians have no idea of origins of Christianity 20 centuries ago....There was NO virgin birth/No Ressurection/Ascension into heaven. No single author of New Testament.

NO JESUS CHRIST!! And All that Bigotry, Bloodshed and Judgement against others!! Biggest Story Ever Sold!

75. Isn't this one of those........
"we have the First Ammendment not protect the speech we agree with, but the speech that that we find objectionable". They got arrested. They will go before a judge. Its kind of like a "sit in" where the protesters are chanting "whatever". Civil disobedience is a tactic we on the left employ on a regular basis. There are even some people who think "Cindy" is a "disgusting a**hole".

As a sidenote, here is a link to the Hindu "gods".

They can shout whatever they want, but they have no right to rewrite history nor to have their 'one true god' to be raised above another.

Disrupting the proceedings is grounds for removal. It should not be grounds for charges.

Nobody should ever be charged, absent some attempt to hurt somebody. The Code Pinkers should have all charges dropped and same with these radical right screaming meemies.

there should be a law saying that every prayer is given by a randomly selected religious leader. just say that if you think that the reaction to a Buddhist is bad then imagine what would happen when the lot draws a satanist or a wiccan.

20. Since when is Jesus the One True God?
When I was a Christian, I was taught he was the son of God, just as we all are children of God. I've always been uncomfortable with people who worship him as the One True God. And boy, they don't know much about Hinduism if they talk about the "Hindu god". Which one? I believe there are 108 major dieties.

Frankly, I'll just go along with the the prayer from the founder of my order-it says in part-

"Allow us to recognize Thee in all Thy Holy Names and Forms, As Rama, as Krishna, as Shiva, as Buddha. Allow us to know Thee as Abraham, as Solomon, as Zarathustra, as Moses, as Jesus, as Mohammed, and in many other names and forms, known and unknown to the world."

I hope the Hindo prayer was to Shiva, personally, as Shiva dances upon the dwarf of Ignorance, something we need more of in the Senate, I think.

28. As always
When someone tries to represent any belief other than Christianity within our government some group of Christians rise up to raise a stink. Its the same story every time. If an atheist pipes up that there shouldn't be any religion involved in the governance of our nation they are shouted down. If a Muslim dared ask that their prayers be respected in a public building the reaction would be incendiary.

Its not all Christians of course. But time after time whenever anyone tries to point out that it needs to be either all or nothing when it comes to religion in Government the ones that howl the most are certain members of the Christian church. If anyone dares to get some attention other than them its the end of the world. If they are not allowed to push their belief on others they are being oppressed. Again, its not all Christians. Not even close. But there are some very very noisy Christians out there making the rest of them look intolerant.

61. Lots
They edited out almost all mention of death. Cut the blood. Cut the language. They cut the impact of events on the characters. The reedited entire storylines in order to make them easier for American kids to get.

They cut out the smoking. Which in the case of the Character named Smoker was just down right ridiculous. They painted in suckers over the cigarettes and cigars that the characters were puffing on.

The real impact of One Piece is the dedication and commitment of the main characters when faced with real adversity. The commitment to the pursuit of one's dreams is the focus of the show. And by cutting the impact of the adversity they face in order to appease the American audience they did real damage to the story. The complaints got so intense that the company 4Kids eventually dumped their interest in the series. Viz media picked it up and has promised to do new edits of it. They will still tone down some of the language but they committed to keeping the stories intact. On their DVD releases they promised to use the original Japanese without edits as well. The only question was whether they would redo the episodes that 4Kids had butchered for the DVD releases.

Besides some of our founding fathers like Jefferson were DEISTS who rejected the Bible as inspired, thus rejected Christ too.

85. IIRC Christianity and Hinduism in it's modern form originated at around the same time.
What I know about Hinduism is that it's pantheistic, unlike the polytheistic Vedic paganism it developed from. Hinduism developed from a fusion between the old paganism, ancient Indian philosophy, and Buddhism at around the same time Christianity was spreading through the Roman Empire.

53. WHY was the Senate opened with a Hindu prayer?
Or a christian one or a muslim one or a jewish one or a voodoo one. A moment of silence I can see but a prayer? I thought the supreme court settled the issue of prayer in public facilities already.

56. It is a long standing tradition to open the senate with a prayer
In deference to trying to remain neutral various other beliefs are invited to read their prayers from time to time. Although the senate does have a tax paid chaplain on the premises and the prayer is usually Judeo/Christian in nature.

68. As much as I disagree with them,
why did they get arrested? Is it forbidden to voice your opinion, even if it is a retarded one?

And one more question: is praying in the Senate a regular/common thing? If so: where is the separation of church and state?

69. I think it was the disruption factor
I don't think it was just a minor comment. It sounds like they were shouting and attempting to impede the senate. They have arrested other groups like Code Pink for such things. No reason to treat them any different.

84. Good
The Senators have a right to recite a prayer if they feel like it. These fundies have the right to protest (and to get arrested for disturbing the senate proceedings). And we all have the right to believe what we want to believe because unlike some countries we do NOT have a state religion.

It's in our constitution.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

I would find it really interesting to see what state religion they would/could impose on us. It's not like they can just make us join the church of england (episcopalian). And I'm sure the different protestant groups would fight amongst themselves and with the Catholics.

87. what idiots
They need to go get an education :grr:

Where the preamble declares, that coercion is a departure from the plan of the holy author of our religion, an amendment was proposed by inserting the words "Jesus Christ," so that it should read, "A departure from the plan of Jesus Christ, the holy author of our religion;" the insertion was rejected by a great majority, in proof that they meant to comprehend, within the mantle of its protection, the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and Mohammedan, the Hindoo and Infidel of every denomination. (Thomas Jefferson, Autobiography; from George Seldes, ed., The Great Quotations, Secaucus, New Jersey: Citadel Press, 1983, p. 363)
