Please help stop Prairie Dog poisoning on our federal lands
and the adverse impact it may have on the extremely endangered Black-footed Ferret colonies there.

Posting an email I received today. I already signed and sent my comments. Asking anyone else that would like to save both the prairie dogs and the endangered black-footed ferret to please sign and add your comments. Thanks!!!

Subject: Prairie dog poisoning in South Dakota

As you may know, the US Forest Service has proposed poisoning of
prairie dogs in South Dakota at the most successful restoration site of
the black-footed ferret. This is on federal public lands owned by all
US citizens. The poisoning proposal is politically motivated, largely
by the agricultural industry, and could have devastating effects on the
largest black-footed ferret population. The US Forest Service released
a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) detailing the proposal
and is taking public comments until July 23rd. So if you oppose the
poisoning of prairie dogs on your federal lands now is the time for
your voice to be heard. You can either write a personalized comment or
sign on to comments made by environmental organizations (links below).

To read the proposal by the US Forest Service and write a personalized

Thanks for your time,
Travis

4. It's a tradition to consider prairie dogs pests in the West.
Lots of old Zayne Grey type crap about horses and cattle breaking legs in PD holes.

who left SIU unsatisfied, but who went on to find one of the last remaining colonies with black footed ferrets in the 1980's!

I hope things are well for you, LOU!

7. not sure my comments helped
but the WWF statement made sense to me. I didn't know what to add to it, not having studied the issues. I oppose poison in general, except on my ipod and on poison ivy in my yard.

8. Are they still doing that?
It also has a devastating effect on their natural predators.

Also, I think I read where they're vital to the eco-system by eating undesirable grasses, so desirable grasses are stronger for the grazing animals.

Idiots. Sounds like another no-bid contract for the Halliburton Pest Control division.
