Question: Was the Bush presser today scripted?
That is were the question handed in ahead of time so W had time to work up a response? We were at my daughters for a short visit and watched most of it. It was his first presser I have seen in probably 4 years.
Curious what the opinion was on this. My wife thought he knew the questions and that is why he made a HUGE point when Gregory asked a followup.

4. I wonder. Helen Thomas asked him a zinger and he weaseled out of it
without breaking a sweat...

5. I thought so, too! He "just spoke with" the guy Gregory quoted...
and proceeded to explain why Gregory's quote from the guy was "nuanced" and didn't REALLY mean what it sounded like. WTF???

6. As much as possible, of course.
Now, if it were really scripted, * would manage to put complete sentences together, consistently. He can read a script. It's because he's such a fuck-up when allowed to improvise that his handlers keep him on as short a leash as they can.

I presume that some of it really is scripted, in an effort to run out the clock so that * has to ad-lib as little as possible.
