Look at the press-conference video at www.crooksandliars.com and tell me. He's slurring worse than ever ("commandersh" for example), and there's a noticable droop on the left side of his mouth.

What do you all think?

4. I don't think that he ever stopped drinking...
but sometimes I think that what makes him sound so impaired is his trying to "talk Texan."

I'm a native Texan, and I've been all over the state. I've never heard a Texas accent even close to the one that he's manufactured.

5. i think there is something medically wrong with him--what i don't know.
my Nana had a major stroke when she about 60 and she spend an entire year living at Spaulding rehab, that was about 20 years ago, since then she's had a series of small strokes and it always affects her speech, not as bad as the first big one but her speech is like the canary in the coal mine.

me smoking pot for 40 years and spending a good part of it drinking, more than just social too mind you. I can see how if I had been during this time, been snorting coke and or crank I would pretty much be just like he is. luckily I never liked either drugs, in fact I thank my lucky stars for that.

6. Well
The man is not made of iron- he knows he is a failure, that hundreds of thousands are dying because of his stupidity and that the world hates him. It's just that he has too much pride to come clean and say: "I have screwn everything and I truly don't know how to fix it without admitting I'm the worse thing that has happened to the world in recent history".

That takes a toll on anyone, and he might have suffered a stroke because of the brutal stress he has to be facing, or he's dealing with that stress with alcohol or other substances.

He's definitely still drinking and probably on antidepressants or some ADHD drug (his behavior just screams ADHD). No wonder he takes his own porta-potty overseas; if the public ever found out about all the drugs he's on, we'd have a clear path to his removal for impairment.

He did so much damage to his system that its permanent. Stress aggravates such a condition. So when times get tough his mind returns to the state of being drunk which is where he used to retreat from stress before.

and I listened to it a second time to verify it.

However, to cover up his blunder, the transcript reads:

"And as I mentioned, to talk to Bob Gates about it, as well as the Joint Chiefs about it, as well as consult with members of the Congress, both Republicans and Democrats, as I make a decision about the way forward in Iraq."

It wouldn't be the first time he's selected a word that looks or sounds similar, but just isn't the one that fits into that particular context. For example, "commiserate" and "commensurate":
http://www.dubyaspeak.com/repeatoffender.phtml?offense=commiserate

In fact, I'm inspired to search through his archived speeches, because I've definitely got a feeling that I've heard him misuse "perpetuating" before.

(later) -- aha!

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/05/20070531-18.html
We must not let al Qaeda have a safe haven in Iraq. We must not retreat in the face of the unspeakable violence that they perpetuate on your citizens.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/06/20070613-4.html
For too long, the people of Darfur have suffered at the hands of a government that is complicit in the bombing, rape and murder of innocent civilians. The world has a responsibility to end this genocide and to hold accountable those perpetuating the violence.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/07/20070712-5.html
So I've been realistic about the consequences of failure. I have been realistic about what needs to happen on the ground in order for there to be success. And it's been hard work, and the American people see this hard work. And one of the reasons it is hard work is because on our TV screens are these violent killings, perpetuated by people who have done us harm in the past.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2001/10/20011019-5.html
And, secondly, the doctrine is more than just the people who perpetuate these crimes on the American people.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/07/20070710-6.html
Most Muslims reject the kind of violence perpetuated on innocent people by al Qaeda.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/06/20070621-14.html
Most of the suicide bombings and the most horrific of bombings are perpetuated on the Iraqi people by al Qaeda.
Al Qaeda is the same bunch that attacked us on September the 11th and killed nearly 3,000 people.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/06/20070613-11.html
But in the face of this horror on our TV screens, perpetuated by murderous ideologues who are willing to kill the innocent to achieve their objectives, I want you to remember that when given a chance, 12 million Iraqis voted for a -- for a free country. This government of theirs has got to make more progress on benchmarks, but I believe it's in the interest of the United States to help them.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/03/20050316-3.html
THE PRESIDENT: That's part of the statement -- a very strong part of the statement. And I'm looking forward to meeting these very brave souls. They've committed themselves to a peaceful solution. And hopefully, their loved one will not have died in vain. I mean, out of the -- hopefully, some good will come out of the evil perpetuated on this family.

In AA jargon it is called "Stinking Thinking."

Makes him as FUed and often more dangerous than any "wet" drunk.

The strutting, the bs, the rationalization and self-justification just reeks of it.

Definitely -- if not off the wagon, is certainly off the program.
