Slapdown: RFK-Jr vs. STOSSEL
*******QUOTE*******

http://www.nypost.com/seven/07132007/gossip/pagesix/pagesix_u.htm

.... The latest blow-up between the two began last Saturday when Kennedy took the stage at the sold-out Live Earth concert at Giants Stadium, which featured such rock acts as the Police, Bon Jovi and Smashing Pumpkins. He named Stossel as one of several broadcasters who are "these flat-Earthers, these corporate toadies, lying to you, lying to the American public and telling you that global warming doesn't exist."

Kennedy then urged the crowd to e-mail Stossel's advertisers and "tell them you're not going to buy their products anymore." He also ripped Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity.

Stossel struck back on Steve Malzberg's WOR-AM show Wednesday night. "The level of hypocrisy is endless," the newsman fumed. "He flies in private jets while preaching this stuff. He says we have to go to alternate sources of energy. But when they propose a wind farm in Cape Cod miles out to sea where the windmills would be an inch in your eyesight, but it's near the Kennedy compound, so he opposes it. I mean, he's an imbecile."

Stossel went on: "This is the same guy who says without a doubt that vaccines are poisoning a whole generation of children, causing IQ deterioration, autism and a host of problems . . . terrifying parents. This guy's irresponsible." ....

17. We have a windmill proposal off Long Island, too...
While the "eyesore complaint" has been raised, the main opposition argues that the actual costs to build them will be a lot more expensive than the plan's salespeople are letting on. I wouldn't be surprised if the situation is similar a hundred or so miles northeast, not Stossel's "Kennedy whining".

12. They both got the same fax from the RNC
:-)

But seriously, and I'm going to be heretical here, if celebrities were really concerned about climate change, they wouldn't fly in private jets, and they wouldn't treat big houses and big cars as status symbols but try to serve as an example themselves.

Make it the "new chic" to live with as small a carbon footprint as possible and spend one's excess wealth on ecologically friendly houses, fancy bicycles instead of fancy cars, and massive charitable aid to people affected by climate change. How about a band that toured by private train instead of by private bus or plane?

This would be especially impressive coming from people who could easily afford the traditional indulgences of the wealthy.

13. I'm sure it was just a coincidence
and that it was probably said on several other RW radio shows is also coincidence.

And, it will be just a coincidence when next week, local papers around the countries will publish scores of Letters to the Editor that echo almost the exact same words.
