1. That's a good idea, for the wealthy eco-conscious. |
|
When I get done with a T, it resembles varigated lace, so weak it almost falls apart of its own weight, fit for, at best, the more intact pieces to become cleaning rags.
Thanks for the link-I'll check it out when I wake up.

8. Now that's a really neat idea! |

Edited on Fri Jul-13-07 09:59 AM by EST
My wife masterminds flea market and rummage-type sales for her church and we have accumulated bunches of baby and small children's clothes and shoes which I have to haul off to goodwill. It never occurred to to me to look around and pick up some worthy larger stuff while there. Age has its disadvantages. So does imbibing some mind altering substance that burns instant recall. (Possibly what Gonzo was in the thrall of)

Due to certain circumstances, it just hadn't occured to me that, while donating, I could look around for something that I might use.

Love it.
With a logo added on, it could be a great fundraising item for schools.

17. I just made one,,,,, easy peasy, they are. |
|
one note,,,, I used a jersey or ball-point needle in my sewing machine (otherwise the knit fabric will eventually 'run') and I didn't bother to turn it inside-out to sew the side and bottom seam ~ I used an knit-overlock stitch.

18. Japanese Bra That Lives Double Life as Bag |
|
In a place like Japan where they take their recycling very, very serious, it’s no reason that someone has come up with the No! Shopping Bag Bra. In an effort to cut down on the use of plastic grocery bags, Triumph International has developed a bra that lives a double life as a bag. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=&imgrefurl= http://www.blavish.com/triumph-international-japanese-bra-that-lives-double-life-as-bag/&h=400&w=350&sz=21&hl=en&start=3&tbnid=M7arE9mmRicEJM:&tbnh=124&tbnw=109&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dbra%2Bhandbag%26gbv%3D2%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den

my FIL has taken up shopping since retiring. "here sweetie, these were 50%, so I bought you 7 of them". lol. I usually donate most of them, but I'm going to keep some for this.

I need to make some from heavy fabric I've got on hand. But these would be perfect for toting the delicate items like bread, eggs, tomatoes and such. I keep a big tub in my car trunk so I can isolate those bags for the trip home. These would make them visible at a glance.
I've got a serger that I don't use nearly enough. These would stitch up in a jiffy.

25. T shirts have to be doubled up. - I know |
|
I've been making grocery bags out of old clothes for some time now. Sweatshirts hold up OK but T shirts or any thinner material needs a liner at the very least and preferably a strip of demin or canvas sewn in the strenthen the bottoms. And please DOUBLE STITCH ALL SEAMS. Otherwise they just do not last very long.

They are very strong, so I ask the sackers to load my cans into them first.
