My LTTE to The New York Times... |

To the Editor:
President Bush has joked in the past about his “Gentleman’s C” collegiate performance. Sadly, he seems to be applying his academic work ethic to the Administration’s Iraq Policy, looking upon the new analysis of progress in only eight of eighteen political and security benchmarks (A Firm Bush Tells Congress Not to Dictate War Policy, July 13) as a sufficiently positive interim report to warrant continuing the same policies until General Petraeus’ followup review in September. When I went to school, a 44% grade on a mid-term exam would have been seen as “failing”, and would have suggested that a different approach be followed for the rest of the term to bring up such a low grade average.
