MSNBC is off the charts this morning on the "it's all Clinton's fault" angle.
This is almost astonishing, if it weren't so predictable. ANOTHER story, with a different guest, about Bill Clinton's penis causing all the Republican sex scandals, but this one went even further...the guest did an "outline" of what happened...

"Mr. Clinton was a notorious womanizer who finally got caught, and that started up a $70 million dollar investigation into his illegal business dealings in Arkansas, leading to his eventual impeachment." She almost forgets to add "Of course, he was acquitted by the Senate" but even qualified that by saying despite the acquittal, the impeachment was a disaster for America and totally paralyzed the country.

Getting the meme here, kids? Don't impeach. Impeachment is bad. Impeachment will paralyze the country.

And everything is always Bill Clinton's fault.

I guess that's the reason we CAN'T impeach now...that's Clinton's fault, too.

1. Honestly, people.
If you let them away with this shit now, say goodbye to freedom, democracy, and equal treatment under the law, and prepare yourself for fascism.

4. Um, we said goodbye already..
Freedom, democracy, and equal treatment under the law went the way of the dodo after Bush continued as our so-called president after the debacle of 2004.

We are a corporate neofascist country run by a dictator with unlimited power and a willingness to break and defy laws and any efforts to contain.

2. Didn't that 70 million dollar investigation into his business dealings lead to squat?

5. The way they're setting it up, the $70 million dollars is Clinton's fault, too.
Ken Starr couldn't have investigated for, say, $10 million? Or not at all? Damn you, Bill and your Magic Flute!

13. Bill and his Magic Penis
Boy, that Magic Penis really gets around! If I were the Republicans, I'd rethink my strategy. Is it really in their interest to constantly remind people that Bill Clinton has a an all-powerful penis that is responsible for EVERYTHING?

Bill and his amazing all-powerful penis!

6. I think any mention of Clinton is just to distract us from what they're doing now.
Still reaching back to attack Bill Clinton when he was in charge how many years ago now?

They're just trying to distract us from the major crap they're doing now. The blame game - blame Clinton, the vets, etc. Never admit to ANYTHING done wrong. I'm sick & tired of it too.

11. I think they're trying to draw Clinton out.. Make him defend himself publicly.
THAT's the intended distraction, not the mere mention of his name.

When Clinton talks, the MSM (and thus the people) tend to ignore the massive Bush disasters.

7. Email them:
viewerservices@msnbc.com

I read good news behind this:

1) Impeachment is a real possibility
2) Moderate Republicans are abandoning ship

Even if one were to buy that Clinton lowered the bar on presidential discretion -- no one can deny the mess we're in at this point.

The bad news is that the propaganda mills are running 110% to counter it, and all we can do is hammer them. And again. And again.

8. Well it is true that Clinton's impeachment pretty much ruined impeachment for the next 20 years
the repugs made it pretty clear that:

It was political payback
They didn't really beleive the BS they were spinning (how many adulters (R) who had lied about it did Larry Flynt expose? ? ? I forgot -- livingston, barr, hyde etc)

All the while the majority thought it was a crock.

Sometimes I wonder if the Repugs did this deliberately -- to make impeachment so vomit worthy that their "permanent republican presidency" would be protected.

10. Exactly right. They knew what they were doing.
They made a farce out of it, because they knew what was coming (not literally, of course, but I do believe they had a pretty good idea that a republican was going to be installed after Bill). That was the whole point. To suck all the validity and seriousness out of impeachment, then play up the "It was disastrous for America" meme to make the whole idea unpalatable in the future. That gave them free reign to do whatever they wanted, knowing that no one would impeachment seriously anymore.

9. "Mr. Clinton was a notorious womanizer who finally got caught"
So fuckin' What? It was all consensual between adults. BushCo are fucking murders, treasonous pig bastards; by far worth Impeachment!

12. If she said "his illegal business dealings in Arkansas" he should sue
Edited on Fri Jul-13-07 11:44 AM by kenny blankenship
Nothing was ever found to be illegal about his business dealings- even after tens of millions of dollars were wasted trying to prove that there was. The banker he invested with was a crook who sold him a bad investment. The Clintons LOST money. There is not and never has been a law that makes being the victim of a swindler an "illegal" act, not unless we're now so far gone in the Republican Naziland transformation of our society that Congress passed such a law before the last elections and it escaped public notice.
