Scooter Libby will have to find new friends |
|
ordered by Judge Walton: http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-libby13jul13,1,5614525.story?coll=la-headlines-nation&ctrack=1&cset=true
Like other criminal defendants, Libby may not leave the judicial district without the permission of the court or probation officer. According to court papers, he "shall work regularly at a lawful occupation," "refrain from excessive use of alcohol" and "not associate with any persons engaged in criminal activity," among other requirements. He is also required to perform 400 hours of community service.

8. He should be required to provide legal services to the poor. |
|
I think it would be appropriate if he wrote appellate briefs for people condemned to serious penalties including the death penalty. I'd like to see him write a habeas corpus brief. Maybe he would begin to really appreciate why we have civil rights.

I am so glad the Judge wrote it the way he did. Such a slap at the President. He very coyly said, OK, the President may have the right to do this but damn if I can think of a valid reason why.
SCooter should have at least spent as much time behind bars as Paris Hilton!

Good chance he'll never spend a day "at the office" for the terms of his "probation", but be assured the check will arrive promplty on the 1st and 15th with the note at the bottom: "Silence Is Golden".
