We just need to kill all the "bad guys" in Iraq |
|
This is the view of legions of mouthbreathers "to the right" of Bush, as if this is a fucking Chuck Norris movie.
Idiots.

"bad guys" are a step up from the word "thugs" they were throwing around the first couple of years. A baby step up, but well, there ya go.

you see and hear it on all the Iraq stuff on the History Channel. It's part of the reduction of humanity to targets to be eliminated. First they become non-people, which makes it easier to kill them; then they become "bad guys," which makes it easier to disengage from one target to focus on another in a different place. Wherever and whoever your superiors say. "We have always been at war with Eastasia."

|
Those who want us our of their country? If they say al Queda, the response is that al Queda wasn't in Iraq before we invaded.
So who do you kill? Cheney and bu$h ordered the invasion they are the bad guys.

3. How do we know who the "bad guys" are? |
|
It's not like they're all wearing Raiders gear or something.
I suspect they mean, Kill everybody.

8. Then you have to kill all the bad guys brothers and fathers |
|
And their mothers and sisters. Oh and then you have to kill their friends and family. And so on and so on.
You cannot kill people into liking you.

Outstanding line - a shame it's not too obvious to need saying.

This is a regular refrain of Stephen Colbert's. When he is in full mocking mode he says he doesn't want to know the facts. He wants to feel the facts.
Thats sort of what is going on here. The rights general position is based on emotional responses. Appeals to fear and pride. Stopping to think about things is calling into question feelings of patriotism and courage.
Unfortunately on a large scale emotions almost always win out over reason.

13. There's principles, too... |
|
... the right is, as they say, 'principled to a fault'. Their 'feelings' are guided by their beliefs, even when said beliefs (e.g. 'the surge is working') don't measure up to reality so well. So there are some ideas that they adhere too, which they take as 'facts', even when (e.g. tax cuts balance the budget) those turn out not to be so much 'facts' at all.

14. 'bad guys' = 'B' movie westerns. |
|
The Saturday morning double-feature shoot-'em-ups I used to go to as a kid. Red Ryder, Roy Rogers, Gene Autrey, Hoppy, etc.
The plots were interchangeable. And there were always 'good guys' and 'bad guys'.
That's the mentality we're dealing with. Would that it were that simple. But, as usual, it isn't. :-(

16. Well, "b" ("bad guys") comes before "g" ("good guys") and "i" ("innocent guys") |
|
...also "w" ("women") and "c" ("children")
If Bush had gone in alphabetical order, he might not have the world today calling for his head...
