KENNEDY: Your stance, as I understand it, Glenn, is that you acknowledge that global warming exists, that probably human beings are causing it, although I don`t know if you`ve really made that commitment, and that -- but you don`t understand, you`re not ready to commit to the idea that we need to invest energies or times or entrepreneurial resources in order to solve the problem.

BECK: You know what? You`re going to stop calling me a fascist and stop calling for my execution on this. You`re kind of close. I do believe in global warming. I`m not sure if man is causing it, but I`m willing to listen to that side and be convinced of that. The biggest problem I have is, I`m not convinced that things like the Kyoto treaty are the right answer.

However, sir, I am -- I`ve been asking on the air for a moon shot. Where is the politician, where is the president that will do, like somebody famous in your family said, "We`re going to do this in 10 years, let`s get off of oil?"

KENNEDY: You know, Glenn, you`re saying that now, but what you`ve done on your show, as I`ve said, you`ve turned the issue...

KENNEDY: Instead of getting serious people to seriously debate this issue on your show -- and there`s incredible scientists out there...

BECK: But does that make it treason? Should I be executed, or should I spend prison time for my personal beliefs, sir?

But did you see the interview with DL Hughley? Beck said that Bush BETRAYED us on the Iraq war and has been lying from the start as to the reasons for it. He used the word BETRAYED. I was shocked!

I, too, bristled at RFK's use of the term "traitor" as I've posted in other areas and taken flack for it. Treason is punishable by death. Hard for me to agree with giving the death penalty to corporate heads based on the notion that they're contributing to climate change.

I didn't say RFK called for Beck's execution. Don't put words in my mouth. I was referring to RFK's original speech where he used the term treason and traitor in connection with corporations like Exxon. And yes, I think this is inflammatory language that is really inapplicable to a debate on climate change. If the guys who run Exxon are committing treason, then RFK appears to be calling for their death, as that is the penalty for treason. All I'm saying is I disagree that this is treason and disagree that the death penalty should be applied in such cases.

The U.S. hasn't executed anyone for treason in I don't know how long. Spies convicted of treason get life in prison. Hell, Libby was sentenced to a couple of years and even that was commuted.

I agree that the corporations are guilty of treason. That doesn't mean that I think that CEOs or even their boards should be executed! One does not equal the other. I'm against the death penalty, anyway.

KENNEDY: Glenn, the 2,500 top scientists in the world, from 120 nations...

BECK: The 2,500 scientists that you`re talking about had to each of them do one page on a specific thing. They did not have a consensus on everything in the report. That`s why some of them had to sue to get their name off of the IPCC report. They don`t all agree on the entire report, just their piece of the report.

KENNEDY: The report is clear. Get a real scientist on your show, rather than getting these guys who are just industry thugs and industry...

BECK: So it prison or execution for...

KENNEDY: Well, here`s what I think, that you go back to journalism school, number one...

BECK: I didn't go. I`m not a journalist.

His show is NOT journalism. Right or left, entertainers and "pundits" are not journalists. Very few on television can or will make the claim. Talking about news does not make you a journalist. What a travesty that this dumbass has his own "news" show. (And it's not even on FAUX... scary!) That reads like someone debating a fifteen year old who has just found out about politics and decided he's a "young Republican." I mean, really. Beck, like Ann Coulter, uses debate tactics similar to a below average high school debater. For example, Kennedy criticizes Beck's action and suddenly Beck turns it into Kennedy calling for his "execution." I mean, WTF? It's such a transparent dodge of actually discussing the issue, and an incredibly stupid tactic. (Although I guess it works for Beck's purpose since it _does_ allow him to avoid actually discussing the issue.) And yet, this dude has a show, and apparently CNN thinks it's worth keeping on the air (on Headline News of all places; supposedly their "straight news" channel).
