Colonial Flag--Should I fly it? |
I got a 13-star colonial flag. I know the flag etiquette answer to the question, but living in my extreeeeeeeemely red neighborhood, I thought it might make a statement. Will flying it just, ahem, go over their heads?

1. They will think you are a careful student of history, a "fundie" patriot. |

3. I agree. The Reds will see it as a salute to "Old America", not to this |

4. I am saluting the Old America |
Which was a workable combination of liberal, populist, and conservative ideology. But gosh, as I think of it, my neighbors probably will have no idea about any of that. Maybe add a yard sign: Where's Ben Franklin when we need him? (and I don't mean the $100 bill). Sigh.

8. By "Old America", I mean the one that is aligned with the ideologies of |
Scalia and, to a lesser degree, Thomas, Roberts and Alito.

10. I guess I'll have to explain there is an older America |
And suggest they read up on history a little. It will probably be a bit much to ask, but maybe it would a "revolutionary" talking point. No, I won't hold my breath.

11. I also believe I've seen it being used by Neo-Nazis |
as an expression of their desires to return to days of slavery, male-only suffrage and "no immigration".

18. If I had one, I'd fly it. |
I haven't flown the flag since before we started living without the Constitution. I have no intention of flying it until it is in essence restored. I thought about flying it upside down but didn't want my family to be a target. At our lake house, I just fly the jolly rodger.
