Boxer, Feinstein seek to honor Buck Owens
The Bakersfield Californian | Friday, Jul 13 2007 3:58 PM

Last Updated: Friday, Jul 13 2007 3:58 PM

A post office in Bakersfield would bear Buck Owens’ name under legislation introduced Friday by U.S. Sens. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Dianne Feinstein (D-CA).

The post office located at 118 Minner Avenue would be called Buck Owens Post Office.

Owens moved his family to Bakersfield in 1950 and went on to become one of country music’s most legendary singers.

“This post office will serve as a fitting tribute to Buck’s contributions to country music and to Bakersfield,” Feinstein said in a news release.

1. Hee Haw!
Sorry - that's about the extent of my Buck Owens knowledge (and it was fun to type). :)

2. It was an awful show. I enjoyed it despite myself.
Buck Owens was a huge name in music. Actually he was admired far beyond what the public saw; "Hee Haw" was just the tip of the iceberg.

I respect what the man did.

Pity I can't stand country music, but there you are.

6. But will they play "Buckaroo" at the ribbon cutting?
Otherwise, I'm all for it. Straight, have you been to the Crystal Palace yet, since your relocation?
