Who has been hotter than normal this summer, or the last couple of
years? Who never had an air conditioner and needs one now?
Curious because it's, as usual, hot here, but how hot is it elsewhere? I heard it went up into almost the 100's in the Dakotas. Do people have A/C's there and have they ever needed them?

1. So far (fingers crossed) SoCal hasn't been as bad as last summer.
Last June we got back from Rome and found it hotter here than there, and it pretty much went downhill from that point. This summer there've been some stretches of tolerability.

2. We've been foggier and cooler this year but that could just be
the coastal stuff. On hot days, my plants are still getting scorched literally.

4. In SC/NC we've been about normal except for lack of water.
Further south the lack of precip is even worse. "worst drought in 50+ years" was the last I heard.

9. Charlotte here....
Yeah been a few hot days, believe me I work in the sun all day.

Like I said though, from what I hear further south it's really bad.

6. And in Oklahoma, it rains HARd every single day.
My 86 yeard olf grandmother says "it's never been like this."

May not be global warming or global wettening, but something's puches the climate outta whack.

El Nino?
La Nina?
Bill Buckner?

But it is usually hot and dry. It literally rains every day.

Bizarro world

11. Hi fellow Sooner.
If you think it's wet in OKC, you should be here in northeast Oklahoma. I won't say that I've never seen so much rain, but it's been a long time.

8. NW Montana has a few hot days
but rarely this early. We've been in the high 90s for half of July, topped 100 once, and likely will top 100 on Saturday.

I don't have air conditioning and live in an apt. complex that makes a window unit impossible. We haven't needed one until now so it wasn't a big deal. We ordered a swamp cooler that should be here Monday (fingers and toes crossed).

10. Last year was brutally hot here (Oklahoma).
This summer has been pretty mild with lots of rain after a cold winter, complete with ice storms.

12. Mild in Texas
It's been oddly cool here in the DFW area...lottsa rain, temps in the 80's. Could be the "end of days".

13. Beautiful here in Iowa
As always, some hot humid days, but this year interspersed with spells of 5 or 6 days of beautiful mid-70s days with cool north breezes and nights where you need some covers. I hope this pattern continues the rest of the summer.

15. DC has had mercifully cooler summers the last 10 years or so, but I think
we may be in for a sweltering August. On the other hand, HAARP seems to be working against the hurricanes as it's a mighty quiet season again, thankfully.

17. It has been noticibly cooler this year - northern West Virginia
The horrible heat of summer really hasn't hit this year so far, and its always here by the 4th of July. I'm still using a heavy blanket at nights, far too cool in the mornings (low 50's) to be leaving the windowns open all night. Normally it would be swelterning most nights by now. It ain't.
