Why Are We Letting British Soccer Players Take American Jobs?
Don't we have good American football players who can work?

:grr: :sarcasm:

In all seriousness though,why is this any different from other 'immigration' stories...

=============================================================

Just 73 seconds into his remarks Friday at a news conference celebrating his arrival with the Los Angeles Galaxy, David Beckham apologized.

“For me, the most important thing is my family,” Beckham said. “The second thing is footb … is the soccer. I’ll get used to that at some point. I’m sorry.”

What’s known as football around the world, is soccer here in the States. Beckham will get used to that, but will America get used to Beckham — or soccer?

“This is one of the biggest challenges I’ve ever taken on in my career,” Beckham said at the news conference, which was carried on ESPNEWS. “To move to a different country, the other side of the world, is something that I’m looking forward to. I think potentially in the States, soccer could be as big as it is around the world.”

The spotlight is on the sport as it never has been in a non-World Cup year. This week, Beckham has graced the cover of Sports Illustrated and USA Today. He and his wife, Victoria, also had a racy spread in W magazine... http://www.kansascity.com/sports/story/189596.html

1. Reminds of when Gretzky left Canada for LA.. but Canada was ANGRY about it
Don't blame them. Their big stars pack up and leave for Los Angeles. I guess it's a slap in the face for those who have supported them all these years.

Regarding immigration - I'd like Schwarzenegger to be deported back to Austria.

10. Exactly, JCMach1
Becks can't compete in the top European leagues anymore, so he took the money and ran to LA.

7. It's like when the past-their-prime players used to go to Japan
to extend the glory a few years playing in inferior leagues.
