Bush: Opinion of generals in Iraq more important than that of the American people
from Bush's weekly radio address today:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/07/20070714.html

"When America starts drawing down our forces in Iraq, it will be because our military commanders say the conditions on the ground are right -- not because pollsters say it would be good politics."

2. Come on, Mr President---You are the Commander In Chief
We out here in the hinterlands know the Generals follow
your orders. Please do not try to hang everything on them.

If the Military is now in charge we are no longer a Republic
or a Democracy.

It was a little too cute by half when you and your GOP
started the General Petrues , General Petreus, General Petreus.

It is not fair to the Military. You will end up destroying
the Military.

It just may be time you and Gop Senators and Representatives
to have a heart to heart with your base.

Military Commanders take orders, Mr. President.

3. I guess that's why he fired, retired or replaced all the generals ...
... who disagreed with him.

8. I guess that's it. Not THOSE icky generals. THESE nice new ones
Edited on Sat Jul-14-07 12:18 PM by calimary
who are so glad I promoted them that they'll do anything short of strapping on the ol' presidential kneepads to do my bidding and say whatever I want 'em to. Wouldn't surprise me if a few of them aren't going that far, also.

15. We no longer have generals who are leaders, they were all replaced.
We have sycophant posers doing the devil's bidding.

4. But but but -----
didn't the commanders in the field (before he fired them) want to close Iraq down and bring our troops home. Golly he fired a whole boat load til he found ones that agreed with him.

10. More Like The "Generals" In His Head
I honestly think this goon looks at the war like a big Risk game...or some video game where it's him against the world. He sees himself like this:

He often cites some book he "read" about some great military strategist of the past or great General...and I'm certain he feels he's "channeling" them in this "crusade".

Dellusional? You betcha. Damning? Beyond question. Scarey? Beyond description at this date. Every day I find myself more embarassed at the 15-year old bully in a 60-year old body.

12. before Iraq, a retired Marine told me his friends at Pentagon were pissed at Bushies
for ignoring military advice, and listening to civilians instead.

The generals were told if they wouldn't do what they were told, they'd be replaced with civilian political appointees and private contractors. So a lot of the generals went on vacation and decided to retire.

I guess he knew what he was talking about.
