http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/bush-names-nephew-to-pan-american-games-delegation-2007-07-10.htmlDespite having no discernible diplomatic or athletic credentials, George Prescott Bush, 31, was selected by his uncle, President George W. Bush, to be part of the official U.S. delegation that will attend the opening ceremony of the Pan American Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, the White House announced Tuesday.
George P. Bush is the son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R). In the White House announcement of the delegation he is listed as chief operating officer of the N3 (read N cubed) Opportunity Fund, a Texas-based real-estate investment company.
“The President occasionally designates family members to serve on delegations,” said Emily Lawrimore, who deals with personnel announcements in the White House. “He always selects people to serve on delegations who will represent him well at various international events.”
The delegation will be headed by Health and Human Services Secretary Michael Leavitt. It will also include United States Ambassador to Brazil Clifford Sobel, member of the president’s council on physical fitness Donna Richardson Joyner and former Major League Baseball player Luis Tiant.
