The David Vitter scenario compared to the Tim Johnson scenario
Edited on Sat Jul-14-07 01:49 PM by RiverStone
Very thankfully --- Senator Tim Johnson is on the mend! :) Though when his medical status was unknown, there was plenty of talk in rethug circles that the Republican Governor of South Dakota, M. Michael Rounds, would appoint a rightie to replace Tim if he was unable to return to office.

Now I'm hearing of some type of bullshit which would create a rethug driven deal to replace Vitter (should he resign), even though Louisiana has a Democratic Governor in Kathleen Blanco?

Per this story:

BATON ROUGE -- Some top Louisiana Republicans are discussing whether to ask U.S. Sen. David Vitter to resign and packaging a deal with Democratic Gov. Kathleen Blanco to appoint a place-holding Republican to take his spot.

I wonder what rethug minority leaders on The Hill will say if Vitter resigns regarding the process to replace him?

2. Blanco could cut the deal and then appoint a Democrat anyway
I mean what are they going to do? Vote her out?

This isn't patty cake. This is politics.

4. Blanco is under no obligation to appoint a republican.
Nor should she. When diaper-boy kills himself resigns he should be replaced with a Democrat.
