I think it might be time to get Lou Dobbs the fuck off the air.
This was sent to me by a liberal Democrat who supports American workers, unions, and decent living conditions for all Americans. This person is in no way shape or form a freeper. This is kind, generous, totally non-racist person, who is, in fact, an immigrant to this country. This email was sent to them and he looked up all the links.

This is someone close to me. Someone of average intelligence who does pay some attention to what's going on in this world. CNN carries weight to them. This person was already concerned about what illegals do to working man's wages (along with outsourcing) -- but reading Lou Dobbs of CNN claim illegals join up in gangs and rape, kill and steal from everyone else put a whole new nasty edge on it.

Look, I have no problem with someone who thinks we need to get a handle on immigration. But this just basically paints "all them dang mexicans" as a bunch of criminals who squirt out babies, live off our dime, and rape rob and pillage just for kicks. This is fucking sick.

---------------

14 Reasons to Deport Illegal Aliens...

1. $11 Billion to $22 billion is spent on welfare to illegal aliens each year. http://tinyurl.com/zob77

2. $2.2 Billion dollars a year is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school lunches for illegal aliens. http://www.cis.org/articles/2004/fiscalexec.html

3. $2.5 Billion dollars a year is spent on Medicaid for illegal aliens. http://www.cis.org/articles/2004/fiscalexec.html

4. $12 Billion dollars a year is spent on primary and secondary school education for children here illegally and they cannot speak a word of English! http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0604/01/ldt.01.html

5. $17 Billion dollars a year is spent for education for the American-born children of illegal aliens, known as anchor babies. http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0604/01/ldt.01.html

6. $3 Million Dollars a DAY is spent to incarcerate illegal aliens. http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0604/01/ldt.01.html

7. 30% percent of all Federal Prison inmates are illegal aliens. http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0604/01/ldt.01.html

8. $90 Billion Dollars a year is spent on illegal aliens for Welfare & social services by the American taxpayers. http://premium.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0610/29/ldt.01.html

9. $200 Billion Dollars a year in suppressed American wages are caused by the illegal aliens. http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0604/01/ldt.01.html

10. The illegal aliens in the United States have a crime rate that's two and a half times that of white non-illegal aliens. In particular, their children, are going to make a huge additional crime problem in the United States . http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0606/12/ldt.01.html

11. During the year of 2005 there were 4 to 10 MILLION illegal aliens that crossed our Southern Border also, as many as 19,500 illegal aliens from Terrorist Countries. Millions of pounds of drugs, cocaine, meth, heroine and marijuana, crossed into the U. S. from the Southern border. Homeland Security Report: http://tinyurl.com/t9sht

12. The National Policy Institute, "estimated that the total cost of mass deportation would be between $206 and $230 billion or an average cost of between $41 and $46 billion annually over a five year period." http://www.nationalpolicyinstitute.org/pdf/deportation.pdf

13. In 2006 illegal aliens sent home $45 BILLION in remittances back to their countries of origin. http://www.rense.com/general75/niht.htm

14. "The Dark Side of Illegal Immigration: Nearly One Million Sex Crimes Committed by Illegal Immigrants In The United States ". http://www.drdsk.com/articleshtml

So using the LOWEST estimates, the annual cost OF ILLEGAL ALIENS is $338.3 BILLION DOLLARS A YEAR!

So if deporting them costs between $206 and $230 BILLION DOLLARS, Hell get rid of em', We'll be ahead after the 1st year!!!

Please pass this on. Americans need to wake up!

1. Divide & conquer at its core
get people to fear something, and they will vote/act against their best interests. and a clever way to peel off some dems, towards the libertarian politics.

2. "It's not the multinational coroporations and the neocons who are ripping you off, it's the
brown people!"

I can't believe Dobbs would sink so low as to disseminate that kind of inflammatory propaganda. The pig.

3. He is a pig...
He's a little bit of smug news reporting surrounded by a whole lot of Bloviating...

Just because he occasionally takes Bush to task, DU'ers tend to let him slide...

The guy is going to jump ship and head on over to Faux as soon as Neil Cavuto takes over the Fox Business hype Channel...

He is nothing but a pompous ass...

How he ever got the coveted 6:00 hour at CNN is beyond me...

4. NAFTA
Edited on Sat Jul-14-07 07:12 PM by HypnoToad
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_Free_Trade_Agreement

The benefits of NAFTA have been quantified by several economists, whose findings have been reported in several publications like the World Bank's Lessons from NAFTA for Latin America and the Caribbean,<4> NAFTA's Impact on North America,<5> and NAFTA Revisited by the Institute for International Economics.<6> Most agree that NAFTA has been positive for Mexico, which has seen its poverty rates fall and real income rise, even after accounting for the 1994–1995 economic crisis. Nonetheless, the majority agree that NAFTA has not been enough (or worked fast enough) to produce an economic convergence<7> (which is hardly surprising given the initial economic disparity between Mexico and the United States/Canada), nor to substantially reduce poverty rates. Some have suggested that in order to fully benefit from the agreement, Mexico must invest more in education and promote innovation in infrastructure and agriculture.

That has more, but I'm starting to question my beliefs against NAFTA and other things. I still wish America isn't being slagged on while we're improving every other country, but all we can do is wait and see. Like I've said, America can be competitive again once our cost of living matches the levels of the countries we are improving. But whatever happens happens and I'm going to take a leap of faith that there is some good in the change going on. Other sites do point out positive things as well. Why should those be ignored in fathoming any opinion?

I also forgot the point - isn't Dobbs against NAFTA?

6. I think he is (against nafta)
Generally I don't like NAFTA because it has not been good for union workers. IMHO there's got to be a way to improve life in Mexico without taking something away from working people here.

BTW -- love your new sig pic and :hi:

10. Korea
Son of Korean mother and american soldier during Korean war. Lived in a catholic convent/orphanage until 22 when he finally got permission to enter the US. He was a complete outcast in his own society and a lifetime hiding in the convent is no kind of life.

9. the stuff about welfare is dishonest
Edited on Sat Jul-14-07 08:04 PM by Hamlette
From your first link at FAIR:

Some people mistakenly think that immigrants are not eligible for welfare. Several years ago, Congress did attempt to render immigrants ineligible for most forms of welfare. However, subsequent backpedaling by Congress and the executive branch has undone most of those reforms.

snip

Legal immigrants are barred from all federal means-tested public benefits for five years after entering the country and barred from SSI and food stamps until citizenship. They are also barred from all federal means-tested public benefits for five years.7

Benefits available to immigrants include school lunch and breakfast programs, immunizations, emergency medical services, disaster relief, and others programs that are necessary to protect life and safety as identified by the attorney general, regardless of immigration status.8

Illegal immigrants are barred from the following federal public benefits: grants, contracts, loans, licenses, retirement, welfare, health, disability, public or assisted housing, post secondary education, food assistance, and unemployment benefits. States are barred from providing state or locally funded benefits to illegal immigrants unless a state law is enacted granting such authority.9

end quote

Notice how they start the web page saying people mistakenly think immigrants are not eligible for welfare. LEGAL immigrants are eligible for some things, after 5 years. ILLEGAL immigrants ARE NEVER eligible for welfare.

If you believe we are admitting too many LEGAL immigrants, go to Congress, have them change the number of people admitted legally. I thought most of these people complained about illegal immigrants but they mix the terms in the argument.

Even if there is an anchor child in the household, only the CHILD gets food stamps, not the illegal parent. And the child gets free lunch, schooling, medicaid etc (if otherwise eligible...ie poor). If you don't like that, do away with the "citizenship if you are born here" provisions in the law.

I'm a welfare attorney and while I agree with FAIR on some things (the population "bomb" argument) they are dead ass wrong on the welfare argument. Illegal immigrants don't get nothing. Period. (Incidently, we verify everything for all welfare recipients so the myth that they can get past us is not true either. If you think big brother is watching you, you don't know the half of it. We have a computer tie in to just about every data base in the world and it performs automatic verifications and updates every night.)

Even if these numbers are correct, stop the war in Iraq for a couple of days and you damn near pay for the whole thing.

13. I don't believe he ever said that -
that illegals join up to rape, kill and steal.

I listen to his show nightly and have never heard that.

I believe he is married to someone from Mexico.

16. Actually on #10, it wasn't Lou Dobbs that made that claim.
It was some asshat named Robert Rector from the Heritage Institute. I checked the link to the transcript.

It still doesn't change my opinion of Lou Dobbs. I can't stand the man.
