OK, I've been persuaded! Impeachment NOW!
I just watched Bill Moyers Journal on Impeachment on-line.

http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/video_popups/pop_vid_impeachment1-2.html

I admit, I was one of the hesitant ones, and I guess afraid of a backlash. I'm SOOO AFRAID that a Pub could win in 08, I wasn't willing to take the chance, but I was WRONG!

If you haven't seen that show, PLEASE take the time to watch it at the above link. EVEN Republican Bruce Fine madre a very convincing argument in favor of Impeachment hearings beginning NOW!

4. I would point out that, historically,
If you attempt impeachment proceedings, you win. The backlash is against the offending party.

5. I was really convinced by the argument that "We, the American
People cannot just let this go. If we do all the powers this Executive Branch has grabbed will pass on to future administratiions and will destroy our Republic!" The story about Nixon never having to pay any price for what he did thus never closing the circle also made me aware of what this is really about.

The only part of Bruce Fines statements that I disagreed with was when he said "If impeachment proceedings were begun, Shrub & Dick would be shocked into realizing there really is a Congress and they're coming after us, so we will face the American People and say they DID break the laws of the US and they're are sorry!" Sorry, but THAT I just don't ever see happening!

10. I don't see it either. * never will admit that he has done anything
wrong. But that's OK if Bruce Fein wants to believe * will see the light.....let's just get started. Time will tell us if Fein is correct.

20. I call my Congress critters all the damn time! But guess who they are?
Saxby Chambliss
Johnny Isackson
Nathan Deal

Two real AH's and a recluse spider! When I was talking to our Ga. Dem team leader just before the 06 election, she said Deal's approval ratings were up in the 90's! I said, yea, NS, you know why? He never says or does anything! I's hard to find fault with someone who simply hides all the damn time!

I always call and write to them all, but Ga. and this Dist. are so red, I doubt it does any good!

14. The media can ignore Congressional Hearings
The media can ignore contempt of Congress claims.
The media CANNOT ignore impeachment proceedings. The media will not be able to cover for this administration once impeachment is in motion (cept for Faux, but they aren't really news anyway).
Impeachment hearings will educate and hopefully infuriate Americans who don't watch C-Span.

17. Yes yes yes! And if the house put together a solid indictment, and trial,
Senators who vote to aquit will be facing a pissed off electorate.

Remenber the lynch mob who wanted to go after the OJ jurors?

Well bush chaney lied us into a war that's killed 3600 Americans and counting.

24. People can talk all they want about
election tactics and feared backlash etc etc etc why impeachment should not start. In my opinion, even if it was SURE that a R wins in 08 when impeachment takes place, I'd still support it.

I strongly believe this is a question about principle. And with these, there is no choice. How can you justify this before history, not impeaching? If not now, when will there ever be enough crimes to impeach? What is it for then?

Probably Democrats can make the elections in 08 but without impeachment, it will be a slow death of democracy. There would be some relieving years from 08 on but as soon as there is the next atrocious president around, he'll give democracy its death blow. He'll know that the Constitution is not protected in any way. He'll think that if * wasn't impeached why should he be? ( and he'll be right with this )

It's high time for a precedent, a strong statement to be made that there is a point, although it took quite a lot of crimes to get to this point, at which the plug is pulled.

If you run from confrontation now, you'll only make things worse for the future. Europe went from one horrific war to the next within 21 years because of f'ing appeasement. Sure he's lovely (!), Mrs Pelosi and from a beatiful(!), lovely(!), great(!) patriotic(!) family...what the...?!?!

So this is why there must be impeachment...

Now the good news. As it was said before, the media can't ignore impeachment proceedings. As all the crimes come to attention ( and there's a lot of stuff! ) the public sentiment will be overwhelming. Already there are supposedly about 50% of people who favor impeachment. How can it be viewed as revenge for Clinton? There are six past years of crimes to back it up. Any senator voting not to convict will face his consequences. So either way, even if there was no conviction, it's a win in the future.

Besides, how do the Democrats know that they won't LOSE at lot of votes in 08 because they DIDN'T impeach?

25. K&R & Welcome Home To America
Where we can handle the reality that Impeachment and War Crime prosecutions are necessary to Redeem Our National Soul.

It may only still exist as a state of mind. But our once-great nation has not yet gone quietly into that dark night.

in the wisdom of Fein and the guy from the Nation. I was most impressed by Fein's analysis.

I try to see that we are more aloke than we are different- either between the parties or within the parties.
