I'm now convinced that Congress needs to be educated
I think it should be mandatory that they attend a weekly (daily?) course on Constitutional Law for Idiots (and Congress Members), team taught by Bruce Fein and Jonathan Turley.

I truly think that most members of Congress are so busy dealing with the daily duties of their jobs, pushing paper around, attending meetings, socializing, whatever the hell it is they do (when they aren't on c-span), that they have forgotten (*if* they ever even knew!) what the basic premise of their job even is -- to defend and uphold the Constitution!

We are indeed in a Constitutional Crisis, but it's one of our elected officials being too ignorant of the Constitution. We often think of these people as having been legal scholars (and indeed some are), but by and large, I'd say that most of them need either a refresher course, or a good solid introductory course to the basics of the Constitution. I watch them on The Span, and I'm astonished at the amount of garbage that floats around in those chambers, mostly unchallanged.

Send these civil servants back to school, I say.

1. When I was watching the Bill Moyers Journal program on impeachment,
and either Bruce Fein or John Nichols said that a lot of congress critters don't really KNOW the constitution, I thought, hmmmm, maybe I should send mine copies of it. Maybe we should all do that -- send them copies, and tell them there will be a test on their knowledge. Failure to pass the test means they're out. (Yeah, okay, I'm fantasizing a bit, but you get my drift.)

2. I had to take a class in the Constitution to get my teaching credentials.
Pity that Congress--and the president--aren't required to do the same.

3. Send the media and our people back to school on basic civics.
Then, congress-critters will get elected, APPROPRIATELY.

Well, actually, let us demand EVEN MORE FROM THE MEDIA and make them responsible for not only having, not only, working knowledge of basic civics BUT ALSO REQUIRED to inform the citizens within that framework.

Imagine THAT!!!!
