The U.S Senate has voted to double the reward for the capture or death of al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden to US$50 million.

The 87-1 came amid warnings that al-Qaeda is trying to infiltrate the United States with its own agents and is rebuilding training camps.

Senator Kent Conrad said it was unfathomable that Bin Laden should be alive, well and continuing to pose a serious threat to the U.S.

He said it was long past time for Bin Laden to be brought to justice.

1. Congress is SO crazy and out of touch!

I'm amazed that Congress really can get it together and pass
a reward or a pay raise for themselves without any difficulty
or divisiveness.

Only, who cares! This legislative body is so out of touch with
the American people it's unreal. It's as though the people are
living on one planet and Congress on another.. completely
different universes really. Life is so bizarre.

7. OK, odd question from a Canadian.

Does anyone find this almost surreal? The president of the United States has, almost single-handedly, destroyed the international nuclear arms treaties and re-started the arms race (Putin has unilaterally withdrawn because of Bush's decision to install missile defence installations on Russia's border), and the Senate is still concerned with a threat the US mostly manufactured?

We can't POSSIBLY pencil an arms race in with Russia until sometime in 2009, maybe 2010.
