I love MSNBC's
"Experts for all seasons."

During the week, we have The Clint Van Zandt Show, where he is on for every event from Police High Speed chases to Kidnappings to Terror Threats. He sounds like a "Smart Uncle" - you know - the guy who hung around the bar long enough to pick up the jargon and the thought style. He talks a lot, but you often feel as though he's informed you of nothing: "Well, Marianne, she disappeared on April 30th and as you know, she hasn't been seen since. This could be a real problem for law enforcement because she hasn't been heard from and there are absolutely no clues, at least the Police and the FBI are not releasing any information which they might have, but the family, and they SHOULD, still holds out some hope, and we all wish that someone would come forward who has seen something...anything...to assist in the return of the loved one to her family, which is awaiting news. Marianne, sometimes things just turn out well, and we're all hoping that this has a good ending. But we just do not know at this time, today."

Today's guy looks like Clutch Cargo: his mouth sort of moves when he talks, but his head is absolutely still. He also said absolutely nothing.

Do these guys get PAID for this? I can do the same thing...for less, I promise.

Better than listening to Novak though...

1. It's amazing how Van Zandt takes so long to say nothing
Still he can't compete with Pat Buchanan as MSNBCs omnipresent guy.

I'll promote you if you promise to take away at least two hours a day from Pat Buchanan. I swear he lives at MSNBC. He makes Clint Van Zandt look like a rare visitor.

3. Expert....Time Filler
It's image vs. substance. In an effort to cheapen the news, these experts have turned time into reporting news...ya know, journalism...into talking about the news...or just filling space between commercial breaks or the "next big thing".

Producers have morons like Van Zandt or Bo Deitl or some other "expert" who will put some "flesh" on the bones...make a story more "sexy".

Another group like this are the "expert military" talking heads...usually a Retired General (if possible) who also talk all sorts of talk and one walks away and can't figure out what they just said.

:hi:

4. Clutch Cargo?
You're showing your age. ;-)

I always tried to imagine what the actual person looked like attached to those lips

5. Clint Van Zandt - what a dope
Listening to him once was all I needed to figure out he really doesn't know jack shit about what they have him on for but he's learned cop talk from watchin Law 'n' Order. He gets kind of emotional about these things too like a low rent nancy Grace.

His cousin Ronnie used to make some pretty good music tho - back in the day.
