Heck, maybe Joe Biden is the happy medium here? |
|
His voice is pleasant to listen to. He sounds presidential. And he can talk forever. I realize a lot of it is BS but so what? They all do that.
The part I like is that he has been around the block a few times. I know he has some "blemishes" but maybe he is the guy to get some stuff done? He isn't lazy. Seems like he is out there flapping his jaws every Sunday. But at least he IS there.
I am going to give him another look.

1. Biden's voice will continue to resonate on foreign policy |
|
and foreign policy is where George W. Bush has failed most spectacularly.
People are beginning to pay attention to Biden on international relations.
He's a good man.

6. Well, then, Senator, as long as you're here, can I take the opportunity |
|
to thank you for your many liberal votes over many, many years in the U.S. Congress.
You were an important part of the social change the came about in my political party since the Eisenhower years and I want to say thanks for your very significant contribution.
I note that your constituents in Delaware return you by reliably large margins to office each election, and I thank them for their sound judgment, as your votes affect all of us and not just the people in your state.
Welcome to DU, Senator.

You are right about the international relations aspect though. I would trust his judgment on such stuff.

|
He's a damned good man.
There aren't any perfect anybodies.
Well, the Allman Brothers Band. They're pretty close.
But the rest of us are just folks. Biden's outstanding because he's also an expert on foreign policy.
And god knows we are in short supply of those in the Bush administration.

13. I like his "average guy" persona |
|
When one of the so-called contenders come on a show like MTP its like opening night at the Oscars or something. Red carpet goes out. It gets played up like a big deal. It is a big deal only because it has been so long since we last seen them. Thats BS. I am beginning to more like the guy thats been out there so much it kind of aggravated me but at least I feel like I know him a little.

14. Yes. He's a knowable commodity and seems to put people at ease |
|
when he's talking.
He's very effective in these small-town town-meeting formats, too. That ought to play well in Iowa.
I think people will take him seriously and I expect him to content for the nomination. The pundits have written him off. I think that's premature.

He was cleared of the plagiarism charge in his law school work, and, since he doesn't, I assume, write his own speeches, it was undoubtedly his speechwriter and not he who cribbed those passages from other writers.
So he's been innocent of plagiarism THREE times, or he is confidently able to look anyone in the eye and lie.
Nothing to worry about.

how about getting out ahead of Hillary and having an IWR de-authorization resolution ready to go in September?
The Biden-Lugar amendment was still a death threat against Iraq and he needs to become a candidate of peace.

16. Just as one example of many viable tickets, what about |
|
Biden / Richardson?
I don't see that ticket losing even one state Kerry/Edwards won, and I see it gaining New Mexico, Ohio, Iowa, and others.
Strong electoral college punch.

The last debate I saw him in: he didn't give good, creative answers to some of the questions. He just repeated talking points. I don't see enough imagination and vision coming from him.

26. Hi, ginnyinWI. Well, he's a bit untested on the national stage, but I |
|
wonder if maybe he'll find his feet and get in stride here.
Still a bit early to say.
But an energy expert coupled with Biden, a foreign policy expert, would be attractive. Plus Richardson's Hispanic heritage would likely put some new formerly red states into play.
It could pack a punch.

Although I think the Latino population is already on the side of the Dems. I really haven't given thought to who would pair well with Biden. It seems a moot point since he's so far down in the polls.

And yes, I know about his flaws. I just think he's very very smart on foreign policy, and that is our biggest weakness now. He'd be able to repair a lot of the damage. Kerry wanted him for Secretary of State.
I do like the way he calls out the fascists in the WH from the Senate floor. And in addition, I can see he has "heart"--based on seeing some campaign footage of him on C-Span.
