What happens when we leave Iraq?

Simple answer:

Americans stop dying!

No more weekly air flights of flag draped coffins from Iraq.

Iraq will stop sending Walter Reed hospital a steady flow of troops missing arms and legs.

Oh, and one other thing...

We will have an extra $150 BILLION a year to spend securing our borders, ports, airports and infrastructure.

Plus there would be plenty left over for things like... providing a free college education to all our children.

And...

If there is a hurricane or other natural disaster.. we will have tons of cash, national guardsmen, and equipment to take care of our people.

3. We need to take Cheney's advice and reduce our military.... he did
say to reduce the military even though he was in his last throes or some such dither...

Ever since Mikhail Gorbachev announced major unilateral cuts in Soviet military forces, pressure has been building in Washington for similar trims in U.S. military capabilities. With Congress determined to reduce the Federal deficit and the White House unwilling to raise taxes, reductions in military spending appear inescapable. Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney bowed to the inevitable on November 17 when he ordered the military services to plan for a cut of $180 billion in the projected Pentagon budget for fiscal years 1992-94.

6. The not so simple answer...
There would be bloodshed among tribal factions, border invaders, more chaos. ..

The degree of bloodshed starts somewhere in the category of worse, followed by less worse, and less worse...

Looking at South VietNam and moving to another 8 years from now under a Democratic presidency,,, we will have begun to make war crime trials ammend the Iraqi infrastructure and go after the likes of Dick Cheney, if that son of a bitch is still drawing breath in and fouling up the globe with expired CO2.

In the final analysis, we've got work to do and the entire world will be better off.

My guess is that in a short time they'll quit killing each other and put their country back together. Won't be worth it without us in the middle fueling the hate.

edit> They can donate that embassy in the heavily fortified green zone to the homeless in Iraq.

9. In Iraq? Anybody's guess.
Bushco says much more violence. Others say the invaders/occupiers will be gone so the conflict may actually cool. Having gone along with Bushco's abominable guesswork (rose petals, throes of defeat, etc., etc.) for 4 years and failed on all counts, it is long past time to try somebody else's guesswork.
