Did Military and Media Mislead Us? Most Outside Insurgents in Iraq Come from Saudi Arabia

By Greg Mitchell

Published: July 15, 2007 8:40 AM ET

NEW YORK For years, polls have shown that very large numbers of Americans continue to falsely believe that some of the 9/11 hijackers came from Iraq. In reality, the overwhelming number hailed from the land of a U.S. ally, Saudi Arabia.

Now it turns out that Saudi Arabia is also home to the largest number of so-called "foreign fighters" in Iraq, despite administration efforts -- aided by many in the media -- to paint Iran and Syria as the main outside culprits there.

The Los Angeles Times reports today that according to a senior U.S. military officer and Iraqi lawmakers, about 45% of all foreign militants "targeting U.S. troops and Iraqi civilians and security forces are from Saudi Arabia." Only 15% are from Syria and Lebanon; and 10% are from North Africa. This is based on official U.S. military figures made available to newspaper by the senior officer.

Nearly half of the 135 foreigners in U.S. detention facilities in Iraq are Saudis, he said. "Fighters from Saudi Arabia are thought to have carried out more suicide bombings than those of any other nationality, said the senior U.S. officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the subject's sensitivity," the Times' Ned Parker writes. "It is apparently the first time a U.S. official has given such a breakdown on the role played by Saudi nationals in Iraq's Sunni Arab insurgency.

4. Oh my goodness ...
Did the military and media mislead us? Oh, that's just too much! I am gyrating and going into spasms here.

I thought that most of us were aware that is the JOB of the military and the media to totally mislead us in ways we couldn't even imagine they ever could? I mean, people are starting to see that picture more and more, are they not?

So, Greg Mitchell sits there in his pod and thinks he is real and human and living an actual, tangible, concert life, I suppose? I mean, you would have to be in a pod, being fed nutrients and artificial reality in order to write trill like that without any idea that The Matrix has you, I guess. I am sure the steak he chews tastes good and seems very real.

The military and the Pentagon exist to spin alternate realities, (for private agendas) that we, and the enemy, (though we are starting to look like a real and potential enemy, as the people of this Nation) are supposed to swallow and digest as factual and actual without dissent or a viable concern. They, along with the corporately owned and controlled media, feed the masses fiction after socially engineered fiction that is presented as a plausible reality providing much ado about nothing that is skillfully combined with seemingly endless repetition. That digested and then regurgitated bullshit is supposed to represent sober, sane, and incontrovertible facts? From what we see here, and elsewhere, that is not working as well as it should/used to.

I would suggest that the more astute members here make note of the pod-folk who are not only getting paid to keep us contained, but are obviously very serious about vending the delusions they live under to their readers. Well, I know you are making note. I know you are also making note to those who are not yet taking notes.

The next revolution and evolution will be that of the mind itself. I won't go into depth about that here and now, but I think that the article that this post refers to stands as a magnificent signpost that points to that great event.

5. Uhhh, What? Did you read the article, or just the headline? Because I THINK the headline...
...was written specifically to grab the attention of internet readers who missed the original L.A. Times article, mainly because of the lame, non-attention grabbing L.A. Times headline "Saudis' role in Iraq insurgency outlined."

I think if Greg Mitchell could have used one of these :sarcasm: in his headline, he would have, but a I don't think that's allowed at Editor & Publisher.

6. Sorry there ...
I did read the article and my reply was in on the sarcasm that you related. But, you know how that all goes ;)

Fun though, is it not? It is really time to get creative when and where you can. It is also a time for very strong and deliberate discernment because the media relies on the lack of it from line to line that they feed the masses.

10. Not surprising at all
Most of the 9-11 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. While that fact is well known, nobody in the MSM media brings it up.

12. Well 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi and we attack Iraq. It only makes
sense that Bush now attack Iran. :eyes:
