I had my friends don't let friends vote republican shirt on.

I smiled at everyone after they read my shirt

then the tv was talking about troops and the conversation turned to Iraq.

I spoke my peace

3. so what they are really saying
is that the current unemployment numbers are artificially low because of troop deployments, and the economy is not as rosy as the Repubs are saying.

4. I kind of mentioned that
as well as the fact that just because someone has a 8 dollar an hour job doesn't mean they can pay rent/mortgage and feed and clothe their children.

one older gentleman had the gall to say he raised his family on less than that.

I said well during that time wasn't gas like .29 cents a gallon?

he shut up

5. Less than 1/2 of an average growth in jobs for 1 month.
Edited on Mon Jul-16-07 11:40 AM by TahitiNut
Less than half. One month. That's if all 140,000 troops left the military and pushed out someone who was working in "their" job.

High school diplomas should be revocable.

Smirk & Sneer have taken ten million jobs out of the economy and some imbecile thinks that leaving troops where they're being killed is a "good idea"?? Unfuckingreal.

160,000 more in the job market will raise true unemployment from about 20% to about 20.01%.

the ones who get their jobs back won't displace anyone. their jobs are waiting.

14. By that reasoning ...

By Bush administration reasoning, bringing them back would create even more jobs since they would all be starting new businesses.

15. Neocon formula for employment of the masses: Kill off a bunch of them.
Then, no worries. They are setting the stage to ensure generations will be culled this way: surplus workers as gist for the mill that turns blood into gold for the very top economic layer.

17. That's a load of bull
Enlistees will still be in the service, they will just not be in combat. Reservists' employers are required to hold the jobs for them.

The media really assumes that we are all very stupid, I guess.

21. Every action has multiple consequences. The key question is whether those
consequences are worse than inaction. Whoever said that had some nerve to suggest that it is worth continuing what is happening over there to keep unemployment down.
