Robert Novak's Last CNN Salary
Novak confirms that he made $625,000 in his last year at CNN. "I make less than that -- a lot less than that -- now," he added.

LAMB: But what were you doing at CNN that made you $625,000?

NOVAK: I was -- at the end I had a -- I did various things. In time I was on -- I was the co-executive producer of 'Capital Gang,' which was a lot of work. I spent an enormous amount of work on there.

I was a regular on 'Crossfire,' two or three times a week. I had my own program called 'The Novak Zone,' in which I did strange things like jump out of airplanes and drive boats, and things like that.

And then I was a regular on the politics show, the 'Inside Politics' shows, anchored by Judy Woodruff. I was on there once or twice a week.

So, they got their money out of me.

Novak says he was "ready to quit" when he walked off the set of Inside Politics. "So, I didn't want to work for them, and they didn't want me to work for them, so they let me go," he says...

4. Yeah, what's up with that. One would have thought that kind of show
would have had several very long snarky DU threads.

I have a feeling the tapes are unaired gathering dust in some CNN storeroom.

7. It'd be worth $625,000 to PUSH HIM OUT of an airplane!
But otherwise...not so much.

5. "Co-Executive Producer" is a lot of work?
That handle gets handed out like souvenir t-shirts. Check out the next tv show or movie you watch. There seem to be half a dozen of them on some shows. "Producers" especially. It's a title given out to various facilitators along the food chain, like the guy who introduced you to the guy who put up the money which was then matched by the other guy...give those guys "Co-Producer" credits.

Novak did NOTHING. He was the one on the CIA payroll, put there to spew propaganda. When his cover was blown he ran.

8. Guess it's all relative but
how many 'normal' people do more than that at their jobs and would be happy to be making a tenth of what he made? I'm sure he also had a staff that did much of the work for him too.

10. Which is why many news reporters
hold back on any "liberal" slant. They are hoping they will be tagged as experts to go on cable news programs. That is where the big money is to be had.
