4. I suppose it depends on whether or not you think the Surge has a possibility
of succeeding. Most poeple around here (including me) don't, but if you look at it from their point of view, it's logical that they would argue in favor of keeping things going long enough for the surge to succeed.

7. The surge that started back in January, or the surge that they
say started 3 weeks ago?

They're just trying to run out the clock.

9. Again, they have said that it took a while to get troops in the field
Which, in fairness, it probably did.

6. Consider first & second (can't vote on both)
And the total collapse option will follow when the barrel of crude will top somewhere in between 200 and 500 bucks.

8. It was about 6 months down the road. The turning point is always
6 months away & has been for years.

12. Your cutesy poll answers aside, there is a REAL answer.
The Embassy.

It's the largest in the world, set to house 6000 people in the lap of American luxury right in the heart of the Green Zone along the Tigris. It is essentially the Unites States' new Middle East oil ministry. And it is scheduled to open in -- you guessed it -- September.

13. No cutesy intended. I consider yours and all of the ideas
listed above (well except for Rapture, that was maybe a cutesy answer) to be possibilities. I had not thought of the embassy. From what better place could a chimperor rule and count his oil drip by drip?
