It's 5 p.m. on the East Coast and I'm watching Hardball and it
is all beginning to come apart. Everyone is piling on over Iraq...no one has anything good to say about this war...everyone is saying we dropped the ball on terrorism. WHERE THE HELL HAVE THESE BRILLIANT MINDS BEEN???? WHERE! You would think these are new concepts...a war that should never have been...an incompetent president...abuse of our troops...an incompetent Iraqi government that we installed. I'm a reasonably intelligent person but I'm not a rocket scientist and I have been working against this war since 2003...WHERE HAVE THESE PEOPLE BEEN??? As much as I am pleased that these folks finally are getting it, it really disgusts me when I think of all the kids we have lost.

PS. C. Matthews is acting like he invented the idea that this war is wrong. Watch while he takes credit for causing a pullout.

1. Shuster's piece was great! I'm hoping it's the beginning of the end of
this illegal occupation; Gaffney had nothin' really.

4. Our local idiot RW morning radio host just went anti-Iraq in the past few weeks
He acts like he invented it too, and then his next sentence is "illegals" this and "illegals" that. :eyes:

It's like they all stopped sucking Bush's dick at the same time and are coming up for air. Too late jerks, IRAQ IS YOUR FAULT!

5. The only thing that really, REALLY irritates me is blaming the Iraqis.
How can people put all the blame on them?? Yeah, thier government is not the best, all they are is bush`s puppets. What a damn shame that bush will blame the victims.

19. MAJOR article in The New Republic. But I've heard her, also.
Edited on Mon Jul-16-07 04:42 PM by WinkyDink
Sorry, link is truncated article:
https://ssl.tnr.com/p/docsub.mhtml?i=20070402&s=crowley040207

But, she said, "the Iraqi government... has failed." The Code Pink gals rose, the boos drowned out the senator, and she stopped talking for a moment.
http://216.239.51.104/search?q=cache:z3vV0dlKzCUJ:www.tnr.com/doc.mhtml%3Fi%3Dw070618%26s%3Dreeve062007+hillary%27s+war+new+republic&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=2&gl=us

Clinton said the U.S. military effort succeeded but "it is the Iraqi government which has failed to make the tough decisions that are important for their own people."

Not exactly an unbiased source. And this article is very old, and says nothing about Hillary Clinton blaming Iraqis.

28. OMG I am embarrassed! You're right.
Still, the article says nothing about Hillary Clinton blaming the Iraqis. At least the stub at the link says nothing.

If anyone has an actual quote or a video clip, I'd like to see it.

32. ... and you're right. If that quote is accurate, it's an outrageous statement.
If Hillary Clinton is really going around saying that our military effort succeeded, but the Iraqi people are at fault, then she's lost my vote too. That's unacceptable.

35. Exactly. He's basically whining like a spoiled snot-nose who doesn't
like how many birthday presents the OTHER kid got.

That's MY global domination. NOT YOURS!!!!!!

The PNAC is after nothing but that: global domination, but it's THEIR kind of PNAC-approved global domination, not anything much of the rest of the American people would get behind. I think most of us would like to remain "number one," just not at the barrel of a gun.

8. Tweety was one the the biggest cheerleaders for the illegal invasion!
These people have finally been called out by Michael Moore and are now trying to act like responsible 'reporters' and they're not. THEY WERE COMPLICIT in starting the invasion and they know it. They had their people EMBEDDED with the freakin' MILITARY!!! Their reports were VETTED by the freakin' PENTAGON!!!! That IS NOT being responsible and that IS NOT holding this administration's feet to the fire! Tweety is just watching the polls change to favor the Dems and wants to jump on our coat tails. He's such an ass.

12. Actually, you're wrong about that: he opposed the war from the beginning
I was in a room with him at the beginning of the war, where he blasted the neocons' imperial designs and predicted the war would be a disaster. He also expressed these same opinions on television.

I hate to admit it, but I have to be truthful on this score: Matthews didn't want the war and said so. But that was the "good" Tweety. The "bad" Tweety coexists, and continues to confound us.

20. I NEVER heard him speak out against the invasion UNTIL things started going bad
Edited on Mon Jul-16-07 04:37 PM by in_cog_ni_to
for the psycho. When the truth about WMD came out...then Tweety started speaking out. THEN he changed his tune. Just like Lou Dobbs. Dobbs was a HUGE supporter of the invasion UNTIL it started going bad, then he too changed his tune.

Where was Tweety when you heard him speak against the invasion? Was he on TEEVEE? MSNBC REQUIRED all voices on the air be CHEERLEADERS. They FIRED their highest rated host, Phil Donahue, because he was ANTI-WAR. Tweety started speaking out TOO LATE. He should have questioned this administration BEFORE the damn invasion, not after.

Didn't he say, "We're all neo-cons today!" He said that they were right, that the war was right, and that the victory was glorious.

He was as pathetic as every other freakin' talking head on teevee during "SHOCK AND AWE"....HOW DISGUSTING! NOW? he wants to play anti-war? FUCK HIM!

While I am THRILLED they are FINALLY starting to tell the TRUTH about this invasion and how bad it is, it still pisses me off that it has gone this far before any of them had the BALLS to do so.:grr:

Nice of them to finally jump on the band-wagon we've all been riding on for quite some time. They need to go tell someone who's still got their head up their ass and could use the info. Do they actually think that we look to them for useful information or opinions? Riiiighhhht!

18. Yeah, it is coming apart.
I know everybody's been saying that at various points over the years. But I think this time something's really happening.

It's like that point in a car chase where the car's still moving but the tires have come off the wheels and the sparks are flying everywhere.
