Oh my gosh. I am so outraged by this raw form of bigotry on |

a Christian web site. I'm not sure whether this a mainstream Catholic site or not, but these so-called Christians should be ashamed of themselves for printing such hate speech. :puke: http://www.calcatholic.com/news/newsArticle.aspx?id=719e42b0-b288-4479-9629-4bbc5decfbfe

2. Bigotry? Try HYPOCRISY! |
|
It was a California cardinal who just issued an apology for Catholic abuses the last however many years.....
For these people to be calling gays pedophiles is beyond the pale. If I could I'd counter protest with signs saying "Kettle? This is pot. YOU'RE BLACK!" or "Catholics are the REAL pedos."
This is unbelievable.

From their website:
Church of the Divide is a group of Bible-believing followers of Jesus Christ, meeting in homes on the Georgetown Divide, near Placerville, California. We are opposed to the institutional model of "church" in America and desire a return to the biblical model of Christians meeting together in homes as the Church (Rom. 16:5, Col. 4:15, Phm. 1:2). We believe in interactive meetings, with all members participating (1 Cor 14:26). We see no Scriptural basis for one paid pastor to "lord over the flock" (1 Pet. 5:3) but rather follow the Scripture's teaching of having a plurality of qualified male elders oversee the church (Acts 20:17, 1Tim.3:2).
No Pastor/Priest is hardly a Catholic model.
on edit: They consider themselves an underground Church.

"does the catholic church want to go there?" However I do think that anyone working with children, be they clergy or parade workers should be screened for crimes against children? That said the way this was addressed is bigoted.

8. Not to mention that most gays |
|
aren't pedophiles. Oddly enough, those tend to be straight men.
Oddly enough, there's a study floating around...I'll try to find it...that said that the two indicators for child abuse are alcohol and extreme religiosity. Nothing really startling, but interesting.

Abusers do tend to have conservative backgrounds. Some of these men feel they "own" their families. I suppose some look to the story of Lott for justification?

Not having a Pastor/Priest pretty much precludes them from mainsttream Catholicism.
I sort of doubted their 'Catholic-ness' when I saw the word 'sodomite' used. That's not typical of most mainstream Catholic churches.
Church of the Divide seemed an unusual name for a Catholic Church. But appropriate for these cranks.

They're basically Northern California's version of Fred Phelps and all of his nuts.
I'm talking about the Catholic website out of San Diego that is publishing their hate speech.
That's what I have a problem with.

20. According to the "About us" section of the website |
|
“The Christian communicator in particular has a prophetic task, a vocation: to speak out against the false gods and idols of the day — materialism, hedonism, consumerism, narrow nationalism, and the rest — holding up for all to see a body of moral truth based on human dignity and rights, the preferential option for the poor, the universal destination of goods, love of enemies, and unconditional respect for all human life from conception to natural death; and seeking the more perfect realization of the Kingdom in this world while remaining aware that, at the end of time, Jesus will restore all things and return them to the Father."
It looks like they forgot to read their mission statement before they posted this article which violates about half of their goals to love their enemies and unconditional respect for all human life.
I also found it interesting that many if not most of the comments with the article are not supportive.
