Who the fuck is Asbury Park Press and why do they have my

SO's salary and employment location info in an online database? On this site, created by an outfit called Asbury Park Press, you can search any federal agency (except FBI and CIA, the White House and the Postal Service) to find out exactly how much people make...not just the range of pay or GS level, but the info includes their whole names (middle initials and everything) and where they work.

The name of every Fed and their compensation is public record. Many states are the same way. Its called open government. At times it can be discomforting, but it has been useful in the past for the media to find out about scams.

The story that sparked this database (there's a link on that site) is directed at FAA ATCers (and curiously it fails to differentiate between fat assed management and controllers). There's been some really nasty press of late (like since the beginning of the year) to paint FAA controllers (not management) as lazy, overpaid dumbfucks who can't keep airplanes from nearly missing.
