IT'S A MIRACLE!!! Iraq has SUDDENLY gotten MUCH BETTER in the past 24 hours!!! Praise Jesus, it's a freaking MIRACLE!!!

by John Aravosis (DC) · 7/17/2007

The Pentagon apparently thinks the American people are stupid. Our top military commander, General Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is now suddenly announcing, just in time for the Iraq debate in Congress, that Iraq has suddenly improved amazingly! Even Baghdad, according to Pace, is amazingly safer!
http://www.mercurynews.com/nationworld/ci_6394555?nclick_check=1

Now, that's pretty quick work on the part of Pace, considering it was only last week that it became so dangerous in Baghdad that visiting members of Congress could no longer even spend the night at our embassy, and they had to wear Kevlar body armor 24 hours a day (well, 12 hours a day since it wasn't even safe enough to spend the night). Compare that to 3 months ago, or so, when John McCain visited Iraq and was able to visit an Iraqi street market - though only with the protection of 100 US troops and 5 helicopters. One week ago, even THAT wasn't enough to protect visiting members of Congress. But now, one week later, like Lazarus come back from the dead, Iraq is actually safer than it's been in years!

Imagine that.

General Pace is a liar who puts his career ahead of country and his own men and women under arms.

1. Was it not within the last 48 hours that Pace was thinking another surge
might be necessary?

The American puppet people are going to have to start demanding some action from Congress. We're being worked over for political reasons.

Can anyone say Wag the Dog? Because that's what this is, now. A big show being staged for the American people, to the benefit of the Republicon Party and their big bu$ine$$ cronie$.

4. Perhaps if by improved he means more efficient slaughter
Dozens of Shiite villagers in the north were massacred by Sunni extremists, two officials said Tuesday, while a car bomb exploded across the street from the Iranian Embassy in the heart of Baghdad and killed four civilians.

Meanwhile, Shiite legislators loyal to anti-U.S. cleric Muqtada al-Sadr decided to end their five-week boycott of parliament, one of their leaders said. The Shiite protest along with a separate Sunni boycott had blocked work on key benchmark legislation demanded by the U.S.

Police Col. Ragheb Radhi al-Omairi said 29 members of a Shiite tribe were massacred overnight in Diyala province when dozens of suspected Sunni gunmen raided their village near Muqdadiyah, about 60 miles northeast of Baghdad. The dead included four women, al-Omairi said.

Al-Omairi said he had not seen the bodies and it was unclear whether they had been retrieved.

An Iraqi army officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not supposed to release the information, said the attack occurred in the village of Diwailiya and that at least 10 bodies were mutilated in the hour-long raid.

Yeah, that's how come it is SO much better in 24 hours; that KRB billing for providing service to bases that are closed was just what they needed to turn the tide in Iraq! All hail the War Profiteers!

Fucking bastards. They have way too much faith in the Kool Aid and don't seem to notice it ain't doing the trick anymore.

8. ChimpCo knows the house of cards is collapsing--prepare for every
piece of bullshit to be hurled at the wall in desperation, in the hopes that SOMETHING will stick that can salvage this war among Congress and the American people. Unfortunately for them, I don't think a war gone sour will ever regain its support--folks know it's time for our troops to come home.

23. Bush picked his generals to be yesmen.
It's a catch-22 both for the generals and for America.

Bush can blame his generals for giving him bad info
or advising him badly, and he can use these same
generals to give out publicly information he can use
to keep us in Iraq, which is what he wants to do
anyway.

Everyone loses... even Bush... the most crazed,
delusional, successful failure ever~!

25. Wasn't it yesterday or Sunday that the Yahoo headline was " more than 80 killed
in Baghdad car bombs?"

And isn't it irresponsible to say that in the media when we know that insurgents want to make sure they are not forgotten? Bet there will be a violence spike soon....

32. Here's my prediction
Everything will be wonderful in Iraq for a while. People will be happy, markets will bustle, flowers will be thrown, the lion shall lie down with the lamb, etc. etc.

Then something big will blow up and it will be THOSE EVIL IRANIANS that caused it.

Cue the bombing.
