Especially against marijuana, 700,000 people unjustly imprisoned for an refined, completely natural, fresh from the earth plant. And thats just in ONE YEAR.

3. I picked 9/11 because the bush crime family fought to
Edited on Tue Jul-17-07 12:19 PM by LibDemAlways
keep it from being investigated, and then, under pressure, went forward with an underfunded "commission" of hand-picked cronies given the job, not of doing a thorough investigation and assigning blame, but of writing a report detailing steps that could be taken to prevent future attacks - a report the admin. has mostly ignored. Tells me all I need to know about who was responsible. I hope some future Dem. administration makes a real investigation into 9/11 a priority. The American people deserve the facts.

Also picked it because it's the excuse they've used to get us into Iraq and destabilize the Middle East.

5. The illegal takeover of our government
all others involve the same family, not including the cold war. It is all part of the same crime, to get * where he is.

Took that long for Corporations via their puppet political party to get where they are at...They didnt try to destroy the Democratic Party as Abrahoff and Rove had dreamed about as students...they want to completely destroy this country. Its a larger part of the coup, that started all those many years ago.

6. I picked the Cold War
Edited on Tue Jul-17-07 06:22 PM by leftofthedial
which spawned all the others

and taught the capitalist/fascists that they could manipulate the aMurkan public to believe almost anything, no matter how absurd

The Cold War was essentially the cover story for the takeover of the USA by the military-industrial complex

10. me too
and I hadn't read any of the responses. :)

If I was going to vote 'other' I would say corporate personhood, though really, I don't think most people recognize that lie, or that it has been foisted on us, or its impact. It's much more subtle.

"Work Hard, persevere, and someday . . . you too will be at the country club enjoying the fruits of your labor."

PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT.

NO. That is bullshit. That is a cliche. People buy into this lie by the millions and think "well, can't speak ill of or stifle the rich, since I plan to BE rich one day!" And lo and behold, this is how Reagones and Bewshes get elected: they not-so-subtly foist this lie on the Dumberican people.

My dad worked hard for 40 years. All he got out of it was two kidney operations, three layoffs, a defibrilator, shaky hands, tons of meds and a soon-to-be-cut-in-half pension.

I believe hard work is about a 5% determinant of a person's success in life; with personality, connections, luck and family fortune having far more to do with it.

19. Ex-fucking-actly
It's a faith in America, and like most faiths it takes no factual evidence to sustain itself. It tricks people into believing that if success doesn't bless them that it is their fault. They believe that either didn't work hard enough, weren't smart enough, or didn't jump on the opportunities that presented themselves.

It's an ideology that elevates those with access, heredity, etc. to demigod status, while blaming the victims that were tricked into believing the lie.
