Poll question: Do you believe the '08 presidential election will be...
... stolen?

And secondly, do you believe the '04 presidential election was stolen?

And thirdly, do you believe the '00 presidential election was stolen?

------------------------

---SNIP---

Congress now has bills before it that address the issue of electoral integrity, albeit half-heartedly. In fact, many election reform advocates claim that "the Holt Bill" now before the House (HR 811) will, if anything, make the situation worse.

The paperless electronic voting devices ("direct recording electronic," or DRE), used to cast 39% of the votes in the 2006 election mocks the sanctity of the franchise. The undisputed facts make this mockery clear...

1. Our shiny new Ohio Secretary of State, Jennifer Brunner, will hopefully

be a strong impediment to the same kinds of shenanigans again, and if the GOP can't fuck with Ohio again, they're pretty much screwed.

8. I'd love to believe Ohio's problems...
...left with Blackwell, but as long as private pro-GOP corporations are collecting and counting our votes with their machines and proprietary software, and without submitting to the scrutiny of some kind of reasonable independent audit/verification process, I think we're in serious trouble.

9. I didn't say the problems would automatically disappear
I said they'd be lessened by not having a superpartisan Republican secretary of state

2. If we nominate any of our top three and the Republicans nominate
Fred Thompson, there will be no reason for them to steal it. He'll beat our socks off because we don't have a Bubba type of our own. Remember, Bill Clinton carried the South and much of the mid-West because of the "Bubba" factor.

Sadly, Thompson fits the very mold the biggest voting block wants. He's a hero to white male swing voters - the very people we need in order to flip a couple of red/purple states. These white male swing voters aren't going to vote for a woman, a black man or a "pretty boy." (Sorry to be so blunt. I'm a woman, so I know the score).

I'm not saying America isn't ready for a woman or a black man - it is. What I'm saying is that the Electoral College won't allow for it given the demographics of the very states we need to flip.

4. I have a feeling that even if elections were...
...free and fair, a third party spoiler could figure prominently in '08.

I hope she burns in whatever she perceives as Hell. She's got it coming for inflicting BushCo on us.

5. I Think that nationally the Republican Party has been weakened so much they can't steal it.
But they would if they could.

6. I agree that the Republican party has been weakened...

...and this certainly favors us in free and fair elections, but I don't feel confident that they have to be particularly strong to get away with election theft, just having their private corporate vote collection and counting apparatus in place is more than enough -- I don't see what's to stop them.

Nothing I know of has changed for the better in the process of collection and counting since '04.

I'm still blown away by what the public will submit to -- private corporations collecting and counting votes with machines, ALL done privately. We simply have to accept whatever they tell us. Polls no longer match up with actual results the way they used to, especially in swing states, disparities always favoring the GOP, MSM takes no interest, nor does the FBI, nor does Dem leadership for that matter.

If we don't solve this, we're without a solid foundation for solving anything else.

7. That's why I went with No, Yes and Yes
They've stolen it before. I don't think they have the juice to steal it in '08. Not that we should let down our guard, just my feeling at the moment.
