Why is one day old news not Latest Breaking?

I did not see the Oaxaca story yesterday. I don't believe that indymedia is copyrighted. Why is it locked?

1. If the story is more than 12 hours old, the rules in Latest Breaking

say it can't be posted there.

So just post it here in General Discussion.

2. "Breaking" at least infers the same day, not a day old IMO

It's tricky, believe me, that's why I prefer GD to LBN. I regard latest breaking as a news ticker while in GD you can talk about it as long as your little heart desires :)

3. For the same reason that "JFK Assassinated!" isn't LBN merely because it hasn't been posted.

There's a time limit. Simple.

4. Sometimes in reporting foreign news, the 12 hour rule for LBN just sucks

For instance, Peru is having huge strikes for twelve days so far and I cannot find a recent article to post the story. That sucks.

5. It doesn't makes sense to have four day old stories that keep

popping to the top of LBN either but it happens.
