O'Reilly's pissed! An anonymous poster at Daily Kos called the Pope a "primate"! |
|
Well, our boy Bill-o is on the warpath, and he wants to kick some butts! I say we just let him run with this one. You know that nobody on his crack staff has the guts to go to him and say, "Umm, sir, the Pope actually IS a primate. And furthermore, boss, it gets worse. It seems that YOU are a primate, too." Nah, let's just let loofah-boy continue to froth at the mouth, all the while demonstrating exactly how fucking stupid one can be and still hold down a job at FoxNoise.

10. Right - Church leaders were called Primates before the name was applied to |
|
monkeys and our other cousins, weren't they? And then somewhere along the line some biologists decided that simians were to the animal kingdom what church leaders were to the human world, and that's where the name came from.

O'Reilly made it clear that yours is not the particular useage of the term to which he takes offense. You will agree that there is another, perhaps more commonly used, definition?

did the poster mean church primate or ape primate? Granted, the pope is technically both.

The Pope is the one person in the world that the word Primate most applies to. He is both definitions clearly.

18. I don't know why he's upset. |
|
It's not like he knows the person that said it. It's just an anonymous person. That reminds me of what a friend of mine said years ago about the Pope. I had asked her if she saw the Pope on tv or something like that (he was in the news) and she retored "No, I didn't look at that clown!". It actually hurt me that she said something like that knowing that I was a Catholic. She didn't care how I felt or anything, she just went on with the next subject. I was shocked. I was also young and naive back then. She was a baptist and I just figured all baptists consider the Pope as a clown and catholics as not being a real religion.
