Why is it that the rethug base can kill the immigration bill and the dem base cannot end the war? |
|
"Why is it that the Republican base was able to rather easily kill the immigration bill - even though the President and a significant number of Republican senators supported it - while the Democratic base is unable to defund or stop the military in Iraq, even though the Democratic leadership is foursquare behind defeat in Iraq?"
this was on some "conservative" website that google news took me too, i was in the midst of clicking off of it but the opening question did catch my attention...even though in the end his analysis was pretty fucking stupid (i won't even get into it) i just could NOT answer that first question...

we need to let our leaders know we wont vote for them unless they end the war. its time to stop these backhanded meaningless ways to end the war and just stop the funds now.

4. I think the answer is vastly more complex than that |
|
I feel as if the disconnect between ordinary citizens is amazingly high, too high. This is not an accident. Over the years I have seen that the Bushevik Party-Loyal Sub-Media and Lie Laundry is so much more than a machine which can instantly alter perception of reality to it's 180 degree opposite.
It functions in that way for the Right-Wing Authoritarian Followers, giving them their talking points to parrot and their marching orders, but I now see the entire thing as an execise in perception management that operates as much, if not moreso, on Opposition leaders than Authoritarian Followers.
There is so much more, but then, this is a paradox with dozens of root causes.

-- defunding is not supported by the american people.
-- the republicans even though they KNOW bush policy is disasterous, still VOTE WITH BUSH every time.
-- the Dem majority in the Senate is ------ ONE ----- vote. And that includes Lie-berman.
There is a hell of a lot to do.
-- we need to pressure the repubs to come around. No more talking points, time to vote with the Dems,. Write your Republican Senators and REPS.
-- we need to educate our neighbors that defunding is not equal to the Rove-ism "putting our troops in harms way"
-- we need to stop giving credibility to the ravings of a right wing blogger. And falling for their bullshit. And spreading it around DU>

6. That is BY DESIGN. It is always much harder to pass a resolution than to stop one. |
